opening a thread -- page opens from the last post

Hi, I was wondering is there a way to customize personal settings...it is usually a minor PITA when opening a thread;

When I open a thread by clicking the title the thread opens at the last page and it shows the last post of that thread...sometimes it opens the first page and shows the last thread from that page - even if there are more than 1 pages of posts on the thread (like just a minute ago when I opened a thread by clicking the threads title)... It is mildly annoying when opening a new thread and the page opens from the end - not from the beginning. I would like the tread to always open at the first page / post. Not a big deal, but it bugs me because I deal with this agony so often (usually many times per day).

I tried with no success.

To make it this way;

the current system works like this:

Let's imagine that you have read a 400 page book and you have reached to the page 196. Which is easier and more practical when you don't remember what page have you reached and you want to find that page:

a. open the book from the last page and read random lines from there and jumping towards the beginning... or

b. Look from the beginning and read that text which seems familar to you until you reach to the point where you notice that "this I haven't read before"

This current system is the best if you read all threads many times a day...

Hmmm, actually that is not the cure... It only flipped the thread "upside down"..

With either one of those options (yes, I saved the settings) the thread opens from the last (=newest) post -- not from the first one (=oldest post) which would be nice to see first when opening a new thread...
