pre-ASPH 35mm Summilux (dis)assembly guidance

I'm hoping someone out there can help...

I am far from home (on an extended trip in Europe) and I need some guidance in how to properly align the focusing cams (i.e., how to set things so the infinity focus is correct) and, most importantly, how to reassemble the darn thing.

I have a pre-ASPH 35mm Summilux. The made in Canada version with the Series VII filter in the lens hood.

The removal of five (5) screws and some twisting gets the lens apart. But I have been unable to get the lens back together -- much less make sure that everything is aligned. Particularly there are two (2) tiny screws that hold the ring with the depth-of-field scale on it that I cannot find any way to seat.

Anyone out there know how to align and reassemble this lens? Anyone...?

PS. Pictures/drawings would help...

um....if I were you I would go find a decent camera repair shop that has some experience with leica stuff and ask them to do it. Nothing is more likely to screw up a lens or camera then messing with it yourself.

If you are on an extended trip in Europe, just drop by any qualified Leica repair shop. I'm sure there are plenty of European RFF members around to help you out. Or visit Solms, it is a nice little town in an interesting part of Germany. If I had a sick kangaroo with me when travelling in Oz, I would go the vet over there, instead of doctoring myself like I would over here.

Magus --

Please, yes, if you anything that may help, I'd appreciate it.

You can e-mail me directly at ausdlk(at)gmail(dot)com.

The "don't mess with yourself" advice is well taken but finding some place local may be tough. I will be in Prague for the month of July and I know a great shop there so I will ask.

My trip ends in Solms in September but I'd really like the use of the lens before then.

Dave.

Prague is great, I've been there over thirty times and still find something new each time. And the Czech people are very good at repairing things. And it is just over five hours drive from Solms...
