Leica Summicron 50mm M-Mount issue
I bought myself a brand new Summicron 50mm. As I was mounting it to my M7 it didn fit with a satisfying click but wit a very soft tone and - even worse I could turn over the stop point and back. I instantly brought it back to the shop and got a new one. The salesman tested it with two M7 and an MP, it worked fine on the M7's but overturned on the MP. At home with my M7 the lens shows the same issue, not as bad as the first but pretty likely.
Anybody here with the same experience? Is this a 'must live with' thing with a new Version 6 Summicron?
All my other lenses, 35mm, 90mm and 135 mm, even the Elmar sit nice and tight on the camera.

Sorry, I can't help you on this issue other than to offer my sympathy. After spending those big bucks, you must be ticked!

Not an issue with my latest cron. Return it if you can for another. It should fit all of your bodies. good luck

Perhaps you can bring your bodies into the store and select another cron there that fits perfectly. That way the salesman you are dealing with can see for him/herself what the problem is.
And it prevents the salesman from sending you home with the same lens again ;-)

I would return the second lens as well. This should not happen.

TAke your M7 body with you, as has previously been suggested. It'll save you another trip back.

Here is the end of the story, I had a telephone conversation with Leica Switzerland. The gentleman said the little half-round dent in the M-Mount was probably out of tolerance and I should send the lens send for repair. I did so and had it back after three days. Now it works smooth and perfect. The troubling thing is only that my Leica dealer obviously had two brand new Summicrons in stock that were out of tolerance.
Thanks for your compassion and help.
Regards
Swann

You got it back in three days? That's luck... or the Swiss Leica office has it all figured out. Here in the US they tell you at the beginning to sit and wait for a month. That's how long they take to do repair jobs.
In any case, it's good to hear your story had a happy end!

Yes, Leica Switzerland offers good service. Three days is even extraordinary for them, because the Mail Service alone took three days which means, they did the repair (replacement of the M-Mount) and sent it off the same day again.
Normally you get repairs back within a week, some complicated work like a total overhaul of my M3 takes two weeks. Yes I am quite happy with Leica Switzerland.

All of the current Lieca glass I have clicks correctly on the M7 including the current version cron. I wonder if the dealer was trying to pass on a 'problem' lens although I've no idea why when he should fix them up with that sort of turnround. So far my dealings with Leica UK have been pretty good.

I would suggest you advise your dealer to send in his lens for the repair as well. Otherwise some other poor soul will also have some sleepless nights.
