Zeiss Contax Forum for the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa, IIIa , G series, and if you want to push it, the nice Contax point and shoots. Some spill over from the Kievs, the Soviet copy of the Contax II/III can also be expected. Plus the ONLY production camera ever made in classic Zeiss Contax Rangefinder mount WITH TTL metering ... the Voigtlander Bessa R2C.

Question Experiences with the Sonnar 90mm?

I'm thinking of getting one... but I'd like to know if any of you guys own one, and what you have to say about it. Would it be one of those lenses you better use only with fast film or is it balanced enough not to make your hand shake while it's mounted on the camera body? Also, does anybody here have a G1 with this lens? Thanks!!

Had a G-2 with it.

Very sharp with a Zeiss "bite" at all apertures. No problems focusing it. Great for portraiture.

No problems with hand-shake- but I'd use f-2 at 125 and no slower, personaly. Flash helps, too.

I absolutely love the 90mm. Try it and do this. Place camera over your right eye. Open your left. Suprise, no real distortion... just a floating frame around what you may want to shoot.

This is great for following fast action, as you can see the action without all the distorton. Kep track and move the camera in.

Now as to quality? Color, contrast, sharpness, all unreal. Very nice.

Mine is always on my belt (as is a G1 with a 35mm or 28mm).
