In Praise of Lynn - and Inviting Your Rebukes
Comrades,
After almost a year of RFF membership I have finally got myself a scanner and posted some pictures - all obviously taken with fotoapparat from the Only Motherland of the Working Class. In the spirit of Socialist Emulation and Self-Criticism I naturally invite your sternest guidance, both ideological and aesthetic. I fear I am prey to the direst excesses of Formalism...
But, the purpose of this post is to thank RFF member Lynn for her unceasing comradely help and guidance. Without her these pictures could never have been scanned. Which some Comrades may think a distinct advantage. If you want to see some magnificent and intensely thoughtful photoography, visit her blog - http://www.two-muses.com/
Jorge tells me that a gallery link should appear below. If it does not, my first poor efforts are here: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/phot...00&ppuser=2846
Comradely Greetings, Ian

They are indeed very good, Jocko! We will hope to see more.
I, too, am a fan of Lynn & visit two-muses daily. She is an excellent photographer, delightful writer, very sweet lady, and very much an inspiration.
Bravo!

Comrade
Three things to say:
You know some very photogenic female comrades
Your pictures are gorgeous - you scan!
Thank you for introducing me to "two-muses".
You have truly brightened my day with the diligence of your labour.
Consider yourself duly rewarded with these exciting bank notes.
Incidentally, formalism was not always a term of abuse. Vladimir Propp's "The Morphology of the Folktale" is a neglected but seminal text of russian formalism and I don't think the structuralists would have stood a FEDs chance in Siberia without it as a foundation.

I'm a regular visitor to Two-Muses, as well, and I have seen several other RFFers commenting on Lynn's posts. But for everyone who hasn't visited, definitely check it out. Lynn's blog is very well done and makes for a quick, thoughtful, and inspiring visit.

Comrades!
Your Kind Words Make Me Glow Like The Milk-Maids Of Our Great Collective Farms!
Your Words Regarding Comrade Lynn I Can Only Echo, As The Dumb Walls Of Red Square Repeat The Melodic Chimes Of The Kremlin Clock!
(I Have Begun All Words With Capital Letters In An Attempt To Represent The Equality All Peoples. Incidentally, Comrade Donald, I have just passed Comrade Derrida and Comrade Barthes in the lumber camp. Their reformation through labour continues apace!)

While I usually don't care much for portraits, these even tickled my fancy. I'm a bit more inspired to take some portraits myself now. Got to study them. There are some good and interesting poses there.

Well. What can I say except to effusively thank everyone who has looked and commented so incredibly kindly?
Coming to RFF I had very little faith in my ability as a photographer let alone anything else. All other members seemed - and seem- amazingly accomplished in comparison. I have learnt so much from so many in this year - thank you so very much. If I may add one point. I didn't post pictures and I didn't comment, because it seemed that the first meant I didn't have a right to do the second. Jan's recent thread and my own experience has made me realise how important both are - but especially comments. Comment. Post. Learn - and, even better, through that forge creative relationships.
That's what we're here for. And once again, Thank You RFF!
Cheers, Ian

Which makes me wonder what that sneaky counter-revolutionary revisionist, Comrade Foucault, is up to.
Keep sharing the pics and have a go at cloning the dust out.

The Militia caught him with a bag of poisoned buns, planning to attack "the repressive hypothesis". Personally I like zoo animals.

Nice portraits Ian, and superb moonlight landscape. And powerful expression in "The Eyes Have It"
Keep them coming !
