How long does it usually take for yours to warm up? I turned the power on and the light's been blinking for 25 minutes and still no go.

It will keep on blinking till you run the software. Blinking LED doesn't mean warming up.

I have the software installed on 3 PCs, and on one of them I ran into this problem because I did not follow the instructions EXACTLY when dealing with the auto-detect section.

I have the Multi Pro and it starts up in maybe 2 or three minutes MAX. My mom has the Dual Scan IV (maybe Elite), and it starts up in about 2 or 3 as well.

Sounds like you have trouble.

Did you start the program after turning on the scanner? If not, it will say scanner not found.

Also, did you install the software before pluging the scanner to the computer for the first time?

I do have a glitch too with SD IV but that's when I try to use auto focus. Other than that, it works well. Don't you just love those error messages! They never really tell you what goes wrong hehehe.

Kris is right. Two more things:
1 Best to turn the already-connected scanner on before booting the computer. Then run the software to start the scanner.
2 If there are problems with the start-up procedure (I occasionally get green stripes across the top of the image), remove the film, close the door, and hit Ctrl-Shift-I. The scanner will then restart itself, and for me the problem then disappears.

JohnL may have hit the nail on the head - make sure that you have first removed the negative carrier and closed the front door on the SD IV when warming up the scanner using the DIMAGE Scan Utility.

I think Kris is right. I turn my Min 5400 on and then start the scan utility. the scanner will then initialize and the blinking light of the on/off button will glow continuosly indicating all is ready. If I do it the other way around I get the scanner not found message. If that is not your problem then Kris's other thought on installation might be it.
