If there wasn't a lightmeter on it I'd think that it could look pretty nice on a shelf...

"The camera Kiev-4 is painted by a famous Ukrainian painter Alexander Tregub."
So we now have a name to put to these things?
I just googled the name and got hits for a high school track & field athelete and(different Alexander) a chemist(maybe) in California.
No "famous Ukranian painters" though.
I am afraid to ask but:
If this is only the 2nd ugliest, how awful is the 1st?
And, at least, this one wasn't painted with house paint and a roller .

I also looked at his/her other stuff. Seems like ok prices and decent pictures as well. If I were looking for any thing this guy has, I'd be tempted...

Its sort of folk art. Might be popular with the Lomo crowd. Cool in its own way though.

Well - the description says it has a removable back side. How many of us can say that?

Yes it's a rollercoaster/waterslide that converges into a very painful ending. If you look closely, it's also the face of an old woman. So much wasted real estate though...that lens cap could have told a great story, come on man...

I remember that one!
Not my #1 scariest but I won't re-inflict it on everyone. I think the thread was something like "Just in time for Halloween" if you're foolish enough to go looking.
At the very leat this one is one of a kind(I frevently hope )
Rob
Edit: I just looked at the current Kiev and the price went up since I first looked yesterday I think? I thought the BIN price was $34 and it's showing now as $50.
Auction ended but no sale so maybe it'll be re-listed?
And, thanks to us at a higher price?
I feel so ashamed

Ya know, after my eyes averted from the "creative" paint schemes, I noticed that the Keiv is a nicely made camera. The one Captainslack posted 2nd looks brand new except for... I keep thinking "the artwork" (shiver)
I think I prefer the more traditional coverings

do people commit suicide after painting those kinds of... things??? Or are they sentenced for life-long jail?
And the scratchy paint-feeling... My 56 IIIa is sooo soft! Butter-feel leatherette (not leveret you dirty rangefinderer=)
Anyway, there's 1 million+ Kievs and sometimes, when you feel sad and lonely...

a Committee for the Defense of Kievs' Rights must be set, and Sellertreasure (!) called for investigation.

I find it to be cooler than those ugly leather skins I've seen on many venerable cameras who didn't ask for such an horrid outrage at their respectable age.
