I think its part of the whole sponsored membership thing. I was thinking 35mm Classifieds would be shut down by now but its still alive and very active. I'd love to see the new 35mm classified posts show up on the front page as well. Or maybe Jorge is trying to cure us of GAS (I now have money for a TLR camera watchout!).

Personally, I want "(Film) Darkroom" to replace "Digital Darkroom" on the little right-hand sidebar...

Here here, nice point. Agree about the "off topic forum as well."

Well, Classifieds are on the front page; theyre just not mixed in with the recent threads. They're at the bottom. I do miss seeing them and the OT stuff (like what's in your glass, etc.) in the threads. However, I think that keeping the FS ads out of the Recent threads may allow more people to see them. Sellers like a quick sale, but I think some buyers don't like not getting a chance at an item just because it was "put-up" when their time zone was asleep.

Besides, if Jorge did that there wouldn't be room for the innumerable eBay scam threads!

Talk about beating a dead horse! Now we're even getting eBay item "closing in minutes" threads!

I'm not the least bit interested in the off-topic BS , but the classified--yes.

I have a few questions regarding this thread:
Why do we have to question the webmaster on this issue?
Why is the "home page" so important?
Are we entitled to make public comments about the site's set-up? instead of its contents?
Did we know the big cheese's view?
Is it possible to bookmark the "Forums" instead of "RFF Home"?
Does it change the contents of this site?
Should we make such comments? $25.00 worth???
Should this thread be Zapped??!!
Kiu

Perhaps some kind of "Letters to the Editor" thread could be set up into which RFF Sponsors could submit ideas for site designs/enhancements etc.?

I would suggest that it be off the home page and non-interactive. Just a place to publicly submit ideas as oppossed to sending PMs to Jorge.

Open for all to see - but not a "commentary" thread.

Then it would be up to Jorge to adopt suggestions or not - depending on what he thinks is best for the site.

Well, I find the Off-topic stuff fairly entertaining. And I'd like to see it in the homepage more than the classifieds.

But then, the big cheese hath spoken.

I think they are there as "teasers" to be clicked on.

What wasn't said (one of the great divide unmentionables) is that the classifieds on the bottom of the home page are the Premiums posted by RFF Sponsors.

What no longer appears on the HP are the "regular" classifieds.

That's why people are now using the "General Discussion" threads to draw attention to their "regular" Classifieds....

it's been said, by me.

it would seem there are no unmentionables here george as you you bring them up daily.
