Canonet 28

Hi all,

I recently picked up a canonet 28 in fairly good condition for only £2.
It has just arrived and appears that the battery is flat, but the shutter
still fires in manuel mode. I assume this is a mechanical backup speed,
does anyone know what the speed actually is?
Also any idea where I can get a new battery for this? It looks like an old
mercury cell.

Cheers,

Andy

If there are any dedicated watch shops nearby, try them first before paying for the non-mercury version. The reason being that on watch shop not that far from me still sells the original mercury batteries for very little - you know how old they are because it says "made in west germany" on the packet but they do still work OK so far.
