lynx 14e: aperture not working
hello to all, my first post here.
i was looking for some sweet small rangefinde but ended with lynx, hehe. price was low, so i just take it.
anyway, my "copy" have problem, aperture blades are stucked wide open, aperture ring is not working, just slides left-right without any change ta aperture opening.
while i was reading this forum, i realised that my camera must have broken or hopefuly dislocated pin on aperture ring, which controls arerture. nice to see some experts in yashica here.
so, i need some advice on fix procedure. it there any way to fix problem if the pin is broken? i have some experties in old camers, as i was playing with my old m42 lenses etc, but number of parts in lynx lense is very high, at least from the pictures. must get some additinal tools, to.
thnx!

Hi Izo,
Glad to see you found your way over here. I'm sure someone will have the information you need.

oh, yes, i forgot. is that blur viefinder with that smal focusing square in it normal? it's lack of contrast makes me wonder.. i wac comparing contrast in some old fed and it was better, much easier to tell where focus point is.
will cleaning viewfinder optics help here ?

no, thnx, hehe. it was fun, but i'm not patient enough to do this stuff all the time, i'm braking screws etc in process, have bad tools and of course not having enough brains.
for light meter i'm not so sure it works at all, have to get right battery. strange, how is aperture related to meter, it is that metal ring that gives some sort of resistance to el. power depending what aperture is used (bigger aperture/ bigger resistance), i'm right on that?

ok, saga continues. i manage to open top off, wire from battery department was dilocated, so i fix that, too. now light meter works, readings are fine, even with a544 6v battery. well, at least "over" sign is lit, i did check readings with my 300d and 50/1.8 lense and it is ok.
other, more frustrating thing it is viewfinder. i was hoping that cleaning will do the job for easier focusing, but i'm afraid i'm stuck here. i did manage to clean all optics, to have more clear view, but coating an that semi-mirror is off (somebody has to try to clean it, i guess, i konow that is no-no). so important thing, and nothing i can do, i'm so mad, specialy now, when all other stuff works like a charm.
i did read somewhrer that if a draw some spot with marker on that glass helps. is this true? also that some foil do the job, etc. i'm not so sure about all this. is there anyone with some spare parts for lxnx (i guess that parts in rangefinder unit are same in whole lynx/alactro series), i would buy let say rangefinder unit if i can't get just mirror, for not too much money, of coarse. i prefer folks from europe, due to shipping etc.
thnx

I had a Konica IIIa which I used to do theatre photos with back in the 80's;great lens(even wide open)and excellent rangefinder, but the linked EVS exposure and lever around the lens drove me mad!
