I can't get either rotating view link to work. The "how it was done" imageworks. I think I recognize a Leica D2 as one of the cameras (?).

That's neat.. why does that knob by the lens rotate as the camera rotates? i.e. were they not paying attention, or did they do that on purpose or is it an optical illusion? *shrug*

Surely those backslashes can't be correct for a conventional URL. URL syntax is based on UNIX, which uses forward slashes; backslashes are for Windows file path separators.

I know, some browsers will re-interpret backslashes as forward slashes... but others won't, and your URL won't work.

I finally got it to open by going to http://86.52.0.19 and clicking the "Se min Leica" link in the upper left corner of the page. Nice way to look at the camera, although the real VR purist would also do overhead shots so you could swivel it and view the top.

I assumed he did it so you could see different parts of the knob and focusing scale as you rotated the VR image. Making these is like making one of those Claymation films: You shoot a frame, rotate the object a bit, shoot another frame, etc., etc. Getting the knob to move so smoothly from frame to frame would require a conscious effort, I'd think.

I just now clicked the "see how he did it" link. That's fun -- a real cottage-industry approach! (Obviously a real computer geek -- notice the CDs on the ceiling, and the fact that he was using an old PC case to prop up the Leica at the proper height!)

I agree. I wanted to go up and down. On the Leica site you can view an MP in the same fashion. Go Here and click 'Feel the Leica MP.' Skip the intro to get right to the 3D MP
