About to *******ize a Leica IIIa

And it's my Grandfather's old camera, to boot! After much thought I've come to the conclusion that Grandpa would approve of having the original Vulcanite on his old Leica replaced with some exotic Ostrich skin. It is actually (in some convoluted sense ) my way of honoring him and the camera. I don't care squat about "resale value" etc. -- it's not going anywhere as long as I live. I'll post pics after the nasty deed has been committed.

Be sure to post them on some other sites as well. I can imagine the paroxysms of rage that such an act will trigger.

Great! You should give these old gems a new life when needed. This kind of transplant makes you want to use them more.

Go for it! Grandpas have a way of giving you something, then saying, "Treat it like your own." And when you do, you can tell they really like that you're enjoying it. (Did I ever mention I like hanging out with old men?) Looking forward to seeing it reskinned!
