RF Camera Beauty Contest - THE WINNER !!

After approximately 1,900 votes spread over the initial round, the semi finals and the finals, an initial starting field of 70+ cameras and a final round where 393 members took part in the voting - we now have a winner....

LEICA MP

With a timeless design, the MP camera is a wonderful example of a design where functionality and beauty comes together in one very fondable package.

Congratulations to the winner in this for-fun beauty contest !!

Hail the MP !!

Below is a recap of the voting in the final round:

Thanks for your work and dedication...I would choose the MP out of the group if I had the choice of 1 camera.

Ah, the people have spoken. They might well be mistaken, but they have spoken!

The M3 still tops the poll in my heart, just for the small attentions to detail, such as the fuller engraving on the top plate which is a thing of beauty in itself.

Thanks for running this Rich.

MP is probably also the winner of the most expensive mass-produced RF camera.

Whoa.. ok.. so let me get this straight.. if the MP cannot, for any reason perform it's duties as "Ms Rangefinder 2006", the M3, being the runner up, would have to step in and perform it's duties???

I think the M3 is more than capable to do so

Cheers
Dave

I have two of the winning cameras in the Top 6 list above; a Leica M3 and a Canon P. It seems that in addition to functionality, both have very elegant lines and designs. Excellent comparsions with so many photos. Thanks Rich. While beauty is in the eyes of the "camera holder", having an unscientific poll can cause no harm. I feel that the way I look at camera beauty is sometimes tricked by my knowledge of the camera value. I would not have picked the Canonet simply because it is cheap. This would have been my error.

The MP is probably the obvious choice for most beautiful/functional camera. But what about all the rest of the great designs out there? How come no Yashica made it? A travesty!
