I've taken an interest in these repaint jobs and I've been looking for a black paint. The best I've found on the web, with out testing in person, seems to be some of the gun coatings at Brownells on the web. This one seems to look pretty good, available in a gloss and flat black. If it stands up to service on a gun, it should work for us. Don't know how it will stick to chrome plating, or untreated brass.
It has moly in it to reduce friction. I don't think this will make it like a wet bar or soap, but rather it will make it more scratch resistance.
The bake-on/curing/enamel types should give better resistance to scratches.

Just a thought, wanted to pass it along.

Every real Black&White picture has silver lining.
It's not the size of the camera, it's the emotion in the emulsion.
Reality is just a shadow of four-dimensional space-time.
