Talking Finally! :D

After a waiting to the post office this morning, after being told that I need my ID and after wasting about 20 minutes to go home, return and wait in line with my passport, I finally have my collapsible Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 50/2 collapsible! It is coated (non T) with a light blue coating, and looks in very good shape! There's a bit of oil on the blades, but I don't think it's going to affect the lens performance. It looks wonderful on my Kiev-2A, and it almost feels like if i'm holding a contax! I'll try to post photos of the cam & lens later. The lens came with a yellow CZJ filter, in nice condition as well. I'm amazed at how the lens is heavy and feels solid! My J-8 is going to be jealous!

Congrats on that Max!

A Contax-mount collapsible is on my (admittedly way too long) to-buy list as well.

Thanks Eugene! I lost a bid on a 35/2.8 Zeiss Jena Biometar yesterday... so I went for a J-3.. waiting for the owner to contact me

Here are the pics meanwhile Sorry if they're not good, I took them hastily with my office's digital camera.

Neat!

No damage on front element? I've read that scratches are somehow more common on collapsible lenses.

For some reason, the most common issue with the collapsible Sonnar seems to be cleaning marks. I've had a number of these lenses and all except two have had aggressive cleaning marks.

Glad to hear that you found a good one.

BTW, any idea how much a collapsible Tessar would command?

My idea is to have a pocketable set, for trips to grocery and such.

This is a very easy lens to service, not even requiring a spanner wrench. You'll probably find the oil will affect the optics. Rick Oleson has clear sketches.

Oh thanks to all! Huge collective reply (sorry!)

Eugene : The Tessar should be a nice bargain lens, if you manage to get the f/2.8 one

ZeissFan : The cleaning marks are almost invisible, there are some, but pretty light. The item looks much better than how the seller described it on ebay.

Mike : I'll be surely checking Rick's page The light blue coating on the lens is lovely, exactly like on my 180/2.8 Olympia Sonnar (P6)

Taffer : the pain is far from being finished! I'm still waiting for the 85/2 J-9... and I missed an auction for a 35/2.8 CZJ Biometar (in Contax mount)

franceluxemburg : I'll write this in english though I think I could use french with you I'm getting myself a J-3!!!
