If each and every one of you were to donate just $1 to my cause, I could afford quite a nice starting kit of Leica Gear.

you know you want to do it guys.

*facepalm*

Ya know, I'm not in debt as much as you are, but I'm up there. I have to come up with $150 bucks before next week or I get to go to trial. I'll have it shortly (hopefully), but it still sucks as I'll be paying this off for the next 6-9 months. :P

I'm okay with it, though...it'll keep me from buying camera equipment that I really don't need.

Maybe I can actually start selling prints once I get my new scanner...may offset things a bit. Course, I'd have to be a good photographer first.

Yeah, I can't. This is still some of what I had from being out of a job. Now that I have one I may have to go looking for a second to help pay. Builds character, though. Puts school off for a bit longer, though. I'm not complaining here, just so that people know. Just kinda stating.

just sell your stuff on ebay. it's quick, relatively assured, and you won't get a better price for it.

Heh. I still have three of my games to get rid of...two of which are going to a certain someone next week (hopefully) so that I can pay this like I need to. I'm also going to list two of my cameras: A working Meopta Flexaret and my Canonet 28 (whine). I'll be doing okay. I may end up posting a couple other things for sale here, though, through the next few weeks.

So anyone *want* a Canonet or a Flexaret?

I think my one problem is that I live in a very tiny town with little or no jobs available and I have no license to drive anywhere. If I'd get my license or move out of this town things would be better for me, but it goes right back around to the fact that most of my money is going out to bills. I can't really get a decent job because I don't have a college degree and I have a GED to prove my education - people seem to take that into consideration and don't hire me for jobs I'm rather qualified to do. I can't get an education if I can't pay for said education. I can't pay for said education if I can't make the money to pay the bills. I can't pay the bills if I can't make money. It's a vicious circle and I *am* finding it hard to get out of it.

I'll get out slowly. I probably won't buy anything for quite a while. I'm going to start learning how to drive very soon. I really don't know what I'm going to do. It is apparent that I'm not an idiot, but lots of people are treating me as such. People here have given me a well-needed step in the right direction by caring about me enough to help me through this time. I think this is why I haven't gone insane yet.

Steph, do you have any universities nearby? Even a "gound-floor" job will give you great advancement opportunities, job security, happy and friendly co-workers, a free education for you and your family, and unbeatable benefits along the way. And you get use of the photo lab and the indoor pool

Oh, and one other thing I can do now that I'm going to have a scanner is sell stock photography. I could also sell prints, but I don't know how I'd even go about that.

It's not so much the cost of a new Leica but rather there are less expensive options. So today I started a fund for myself. Each time I pick up a bottle and get the cash for it, I will put it in my new fund.

Stephanie, it's cheap to move to a place with a lot of work-might be time to take a plunge, eh?

So why don't we all send a dollar to each other, like everyone send a dollar to 10 people, then they can all send $10 back to the ..oh, wait.

I'll contribute to yours if you contribute to mine

And Steph, there are always student loans if you're serious about getting a degree. I know it can be tough when you get into a rut, but the only thing to do is to get yourself out of it. When we truly want something, we find ways of making it happen. It's all about long term thinking.

Steph,
I know some really successfull people who have GED's, including a past president of the local school board. You say you live near a community college. Why aren't you enrolled?

Right now, money. Being in debt, they won't give me a loan. And this is from me not paying while I wasn't working...so it's worse than it would be had it just been a normal credit card debt. The max on the card was only $300.

Yeah, my loans just went into repayment as well, and while it is hard right now (I definitely won't be buying any new gear soon), I know that I am moving in a positive direction, and that in a year or two, I'll be able to treat myself to something really special.

Some Universities/colleges also have workstudy/co-op programmes that help you find work and experience while attending school. And there is a huuuuge shortage of trades people right now and funding available for said programmes (in Canada at least).

Best of luck...
