Repairing hole in curtain.

A FED 2c (green) arrived from the Ukraine, looking smart but in need of a lube of the winder and selector mechanisms. The lens is a tabbed I26M and is in very good condition, none of the wire-wool marks that appear on many of these lenses. I don't know why I bid on it, perhaps it seemed a good idea at the time (hey, I shouldn't need to explain to you! You ALL have (or will have) the very same affliction!). Maybe I thought that it would go nicely with my blue FED2c. Anyway, it aint as good as some of my other purchases, this is the first with a hole in the curtain. This hole is very small with no signs of a crater or burning in the curtain. Anyone know of a good way to repair?

Regards,

A dab of black paint, but this is not a permanent solution.

If the hole is small, it can be patched with fabric textile paint. Choose the thick type used for T-shirt printing. Black. Also do check the condition of the fabric used in the blinds. Do they feel supple? If they look dry and cracking, shutter replacement may be the only way to go. The hole is an indication that its vulcanised coating is deteriorating and it will only be time before the whole thing cracks extensively and flakes off.

I used some Starbrite Liquid electrical tape on the curtains of my IIIF, I had more than just pin holes, I had actual flaking. After application of the stuff make sure you allow it to dry for at least a day before playing with the shutter.

As Jay said, it is just a temporary measure, my fix has lasted about 6 months but more of the curtain is shedding, so the IIIF is on the shelf utill I can afford a CLA and curtain replacement.
