My first show opening today

O, man, I've been nervous about this for weeks. Today I have my first opening. I have about 20 square fotographs, all are experimental views (multiple exposures) of the city Lüneburg. Most were shot with Holga, and some with Lubitel. A solo-musician is going to provide some good music, and my friends are taking care of the drinks. I invited everybody I know, there was an article in the local paper and I am nervous as HELL!

Congratulations! Will we get a private screening of any of these (or have we already in the gallery) after your show has run for a while? Don't want to take away from your show opening of course.

Hope all goes well and you can come down a little after it gets going. Congrats again for sure.

Good luck, congratulations, and kick arse (is that a superstition too?).

Do we get to see the video tape afterwards?

Thanks,

Congratulations and good luck. Your photos are great. They offer a great depth and openness at the same time (not my experience with double exposures. I think that double exposures are very metaphoric for our modern times, but yours also convey a timelessness. Hope you will show us more.

Congratulations on the Exhibition, and very nice pictures.

Also checked your Polaroid Gallery. Is that an SX70 Alpha Special Edition?

If so, I'll post any luck I have converting mine to 600 film...

Beautiful and unique photographs. They beckon for closer examination and study.

After the fact, but I hope the show went well and will watch for your update.

Wow,

thanks for your good wishes and compliments! Well I was nervous the whole day (and a whole week), I came one hour earlier to set up and fix up all the photos that didnt hang right. There were quite a lot of people that came, and what surprised me is that a lot of them came exactly on time. All in all there were about 60 people. Most of them were friends, family and colleagues. But the real surprise (for me and everybody else) was the Mayor of the city. I sent him an email invitation, and didnt really think that he would actually come, but he came and he was a very friendly man, and said that if I need some help, like looking for a place for a next exhibition, I should contact him. Other than that there were only few people (maybe 5) who came because they read about it in the paper. Everybody was asking me how I made these photographs and if I have used a computer, and I constantly had to explain the concept of multiple exposures. The musician playing on a bayan (a russian accordion) was amazing, he played classical music, and lots of people were impressed by him and asked me where I found him. Some people asked about the prices, but nobody actually said that they'll buy one. I had some contact cards layed out, so I hope some people took them.
All in all, we all had a very good time, and people seemed to like my work. (although my mother in law told the mayor "you know, he can also take nice photographs" After the show some of us went out to have some food and beer, and I felt very relieved. The show will hang for another 3 weeks. I wonder if I'll sell something, but if not it doesnt matter, we had a good time anyway.

Thanks for your support, I went in more confindently because of this thread.

PS: the photos were 30x30cm.

Brian, I am not sure what SX70 i have, it doesnt say anything on it. I still have about 15 shots of time-zero film left. I did already try some 600 film in it, which seems to work okay, obviously a bit overexposed, but not too bad. in interiour situations they get pretty yellow.
