Removing film advance lever on Zorki 4K
I'm trying to get to the viewfinder of my Zorki 4K and the last thing I need to do to take off the top plate is remove the film advance lever. I can't seem to get it off. What is the trick to removing it?
Anyways, I'm taking it apart because the other day I dropped my jacket on the wooden stairs in my house. My Zorki was in the pocket. Nothing appeared to be damaged except it looks like it really messed up the viewfinder. It looks like something inside moved around, so I'm tearing it apart. The viewfinder was already really bad already (very dim and blurry, worse than the two other FSU cameras I've used), so if I can fix this maybe I can clean the viewfinder. I've never taken a camera apart, but I have the desire to figure this stuff out. Does it sound like I'm in over my head?

I should probably add that I already have the frame counter insert and the star shaped washer removed, I just can't get the lever off. Thanks.

the hold down screw ( has a pair of holes in it for a spanner ) is a left handed thread. Dave

OK, I'm a bit confused. I believe I'm on step two using the Rick Olsen page that g-man linked me to...

This is what I'm looking at. Do I stick the tweezers (or whatever tool I opt to use in their place) into the two holes indicated by arrows in the photo? I have the already removed the film spool holder, but I can't get this lever to come off.

Yes. When I took mine apart I found it was able to turn the plate by using a screwdriver in one of the holes.
Also, in the next phase (removing the lever), make sure you use a pin or a piece of paperclip to keep the wind lever sping tensioned ... rewinding that sucker is no fun. do it wrong and you end up with a double-stroke or a floppy wind lever.

When I tore down my Zorki 4K because of rangefinder problems I found it had been 'repaired' by removing some screws and welding parts of the RF system. Also, one of the adjusting screws had been stripped. I replaced the stripped screw, undid the weld and found a screw that would work in its place. The vertical alignment is still off very slightly, but it works well apart from that.

Guys, if its LHT, then CW should loosen it. I have one to fix but haven't gotten around to starting it yet.
Maybe the design was changed at some point?
