Award for Sorriest Auction Ever?
It's been discussed before, but doesn't this guy get it?

That'd make one hell of a C&C shot.

Is he seling the entire stock of a used camera shop?
The shipping cost and logistics will need some careful consideration.

It's already 10 minutes that I'm scrolling through the pics of this auction. what makes it the "sorriest auction ever?" The price? or that old guy selling all his gear?

I can understand wanting to offload a collection in one go; I can even understand not doing so at a NY auction house, where photo dealers can inspect the goods first-hand. People can be lazy; fine. It is a stretch to include a Rolex and a Mont-Blanc in the same auction, but, okay, people who like Leicas probably appreciate other fine tools, too. Now, just on the border of comprehension for me is including "Gasoline to drive to Post Office" in his shipping charges in another auction... for a wrench. But, people can be miserly; fine. What stuns me, though, is that said wrench, which one might suspect was painted at one time, he describes as "Paint on it is showing wear," and this at the exact same time that he's trying to sell $30,000 worth of cameras essentially unseen.
Ah. Humanity, thou art a kaleidoscope.

Yeah, bad, but here is another good one. Actually, this one is just plain funny - and meant to be. And is has particular funniness for the Leica users here.

Ha! He must have swiped that "gas to drive to post office" from my listings. I need to have a word with Mr Sharkey about his machine!

If you look at his feedback, he seems to have been selling stuff for a while now (and got great feedback in the process). My guess is he's just sick of it.

Maybe he's trying to avoid paying too many seller fees... but auctioning his entire collection, including Rolex watches and fountain pens... he must be hoping there's a wealthy dealer watching.

Sort of like the dashing young rake who kept the priest busy for 45 minutes with an explicit account of his sexual exploits. The good father told him his sin was bragging. Just a thought.

Maybe he doesn't really want to get rid of it... just wants to show his wife "see honey, I tried to sell it off 3 times".

I agree with Joe. Seems to me he's just showing off.

It's been relisted I don't know how many times. He keeps on relisting this very listing over and over again. Not a single change; I don't know about the price, I don't keep track of the price, but this auction has been coming up all year; I hear it's a rather old one.
It's for that reason that I say "sorries auction ever". Can't this guy list every piece separately? It doesn't take a genius to know that individually, most of these would sell.

Or is he? Some people's minds work in mysterious ways...
Or does he even have the items, and is betting nobody would actually buy it? Is it a way to make a reputation? Forrest Gump syndrome? Marketing genius? No clothes on this umperor?
If these guys don't buy, I don't know who will: http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...npalace_casino

let's screw the guy and buy it! Anyone?
come on, it's just a year salary.
I ran a quick calculation; only the camera gear itself is worth about 20.000, i think. I know nothing about rolex's and pens, though.
