Talking First Crack At Street Shooting....

Hi Guy's,

I've been a member for a short time and have tinkered around with a yashica minister & cosmic 35, but haven't really done much street photography.

I've been looking for a rangefinder for a little while and bought a Zorki 4K which seems to be in really good working order and also got a turret finder, Jupiter 35mm f2.8 & 50mm f2. I spent most of today out in manchester shooting in the streets, mostly candid shots & architecture.

I'd previously been using a Canon T90 as my main camera which i felt comfortable using for landscapes but felt a bit self conscious when it came to taking it on the streets. I had an absolute hoot shooting with the Zorki. I got talking to quite a few people whilst i was out shooting and ended up wandering the streets for hours shooting graffiti, people, reflections & cool buildings. I had a great time it was awesome!

I know the russian camera's sometime seem to fall foul of poor quality control & often are unreliable but it seems to be in good order. I guess i'll find out once i pick up my films tomorrow. If they turn out well i'll post a few on here.

I just wish i'd got into street shooting sooner! Although i think today I was just lucky that no-one took objection to me taking their photo.

Does anyone have any tips or advice or perhaps know some good sites with info on street photography?

Cheers

Adam

well even if they don't turn out well, seems you had a good time, and that's the most important, right?
but i guess they'll be alright, why would they not be.

www.in-public.com is an excellent site.
