Question rf patch location/amount

(Stupid question alert!)

I wonder why nobody thought to put the RF patch off-center - or,even better, put two of them, one in the left Point-of-Power and one more in the right one. Wouldn't that make easier quick composition and help avoid the subject-always-in-center look?

Before i you kick me, it would have a serious advantage versus 9-point autofocus cameras - here it's still the photographer who's selecting the "focusing sensor" i.e. the patch

Would this make the vf too cluttered with double-images...?

Yes, I think it would be cluttered. Worse, though, to have the whole viewfinder image be an RF spot, another idea to consider. Even when the point(s) you want in focus have their double images coinicide, other areas are still doubled, making composition more difficult. And I don't see a valid comparison here with the out-of-focus blur in an SLR viewfinder, as that more resembles what'll end up on film.

The answer may be in training oneself to focus and then shift the view back to the composition you want. It's possible using a separate viewfinder could be a training aid for this.
