First Lens Removal - Success!!

Just finished replacing the POD on a Hong Kong GSN. This is the first time I have removed the lens assembly to change a POD. Using all the available tech data, I was able to swing the lens assy, install a new neoprene POD, and reinstall the lens. (only swore a few times...) Put a battery in and............

IT WORKED!!!!!!!

Man, was I surprised. I was sure I would screw something up, but I guess I didn't.

Another one un-bites the dust!!!

THIS IS FUN!!

Russ

Congratulations! I think there are few things more rewarding than repairing a piece of kit yourself. It’s sort of empowering, isn't it?

Cheers

Congratulations! You have now been officially exposed to the Yashica repair/collectiing virus from which there is no known cure!!!

Seriously, it's a great feeling to put another one in service, is it not?

Mike

Russ, only an APG troop could have done that job successfully!

Congrats from another retired Msgt........ Comm-Nav troop.

Congrats.
When i've seen the complications involved in removing the lens assembly, i decided to do the "microsurgery" way - through the small hole when the top casting is off. I swore more than 2 times, i think.

By the way, this (complications by removing the lens) also proves, that it's easier to repair a Contax iia

Hi Walker,
Yup, APG type here. Crewed T-33's and B-1's, then Expedited on B-1's. Been at Nellis, Osan, McClellan, Griffiss and McConnell. 1977-94 (Took Slick Willy's early retirement program...)

Regards,

Russ
