25mm f4 skopar M-mount brings up 35mm frame?

Actually, that's not a question. I bought this beautiful lens from a fellow RFFer who'd used it only on his Epson. We both assumed that on the M6 it would bring up the 28mm frame which would be close enough for me. However I discovered today that it brings up the 35mm framelines. Which struck me as counter-intuitive.

Unless, it occurred to me, bringing up the 28mm lines on an M6 would mean it would bring up the 90mm on the M3, M2, M4? Is that why it's built for 35mm?

How difficult to change it to 28mm?

PS Since it's a 0.72 VF and the 28mm lines essentially take up the entire viewable area, it's not that hard to use that as a guide... I'm only inquiring out of curiousity.

I'm wondering what framelines would come up on an M6 ttl .58. Presumably it will show the 24mm frame, which may coincide with the 35mm frame.
I'm just speculating.

There is no 24mm frame. The .58 has the same framelines but the wide ones are more completely visible and the 50, 75 and 90 are much smaller. The 135 is gone all together I believe. I think the full viewable area of the VF in the .58 is closer to 21mm than 25mm but that's just a guess on my part. It's very appealing for wider lenses in any case (though the BessaR4M/R4A is really the camera for wide shooters). The 28mm will bring up the 90mm frame on the M3, M4, and M2; and the 28/90 dual framelines on the M4P, M6, M7, and MP.

You cannot change from 35mm to 28mm framelines by filing the bayonet lug, because the 35mm position already requires the shortest lug.

No M6 has a 24mm frameline. Only the M8 and M8.2 have one. However, a 24mm lens will bring up the 35mm frameline on any Leica except the M3, which doesn't have one. It would bring up the 135mm frame on the M3.

My Elmarit 24 ASPH brings 35mm frame on my 0.58 M7 ; sometimes I push the lever to have 28mm frame, and found it was helpful (but an hindrance, what thought M ingenieers when they fixed it ?).

Perhaps the thinking was to make these lenses bring up a frame line that is obviously wrong rather than distract you with one that might be assumed to be close - the 24mm Leica lens for a standard M body, for instance, not bringing up the 28mm frame lines. I don't know Bessars for which the 25mm Color Skopar was really intended. The Zeiss 25mm Biogon brings up the 28/90.
