Nick Ut with a taped Epson Rd1

One AP photographer with the photo that changed the world view on Vietnam's war. Saw this picture of him in 2010:

A digital file wouldn't split and fracture like that!

Just sayin'!

More seriously ... fantastic to see such an iconic negative.

and the frame number is lucky 7 too. Frame number 8 changed the composition so much with the child at the center of the frame compared to the off center and the body language in frame 7 really invokes emotions.

Yet the picture published in TIME magazine was a cropped version of the frame shown in the negative. It actually positioned the burning child in the centre and removed the press photographers from the right. That version took a Pulitzer and was selected as World Press Photo for 1972.

Interesting! Specially for people like myself who were 20 in the time of the Vietnam War.
Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks for pointing that out, perhaps all in my memory was the picture of the burning child. It makes sense to me to crop with that many scratches on the negative at the top and on the right hand side. Perhaps the photographer intended a bit different but in this case, composition matters less than the content itself.
