quality shots from an entry level RF
Hi bargoon camera users. Lets show how proud we are of our users. We know about the Bessas , Leicas , Canons, Contaxs, Nikons etc.
How about some shots from cameras that cost less than $100. I'm going to start showing what some of the well know little RFs can do. You know the ones by now, Oly RC, Yashica, Minolta, Ricoh, and on and on.
If you know which of these cameras took your shots, lets put them into a post while the gallery is U/C . It should give us something fresh to look at and also show these cameras to the newer RFF members who are getting their feet wet before plunging into the deep end of the pool so to speak.
I'm going to put up something tonite after I go thru my shots.
Jan

3rd shot from my CDN$40 Oly 35SP, also in my RFF Canada gallery.

Zorki 4 -- Jupiter 8,
Bought at local antique shop for $30 US.
Tough lighting, I was surprised the lens did not flare.
HP-5 developed in Diafine.

Taken with a FED 1, FED collapsible 50mm f/3.5. I think it was 1/200 at f/18... I think...
The FED 1 is one of my favourite street shooters because it's so small, and with the collapsible lens it fits in any bag. I tend to keep it in its never-ready case simply because, well, it's a nice case and also because I don't have a lens cap for it.

Here's a shot from my Canonet 28. It came with 2 QL-17 parts cameras, I thnk I paid $30.00 for all three. The 28 was working and I made one good QL-17 out of the 2 junkers. I think the Canonet 28 is about as "entry level" as you can get!

Here's my Canonet QL17 GIII shot. It cost me $40 and a go over by the GMan. Yay "G" ..... anyway here is a shot using Kodak BW C41 400 ISO f16 at 250 processed and onto CD at the lab.

You guys are probably sick of my Las Vegas night shots, but both the Canon GIII and the Mamiya SD are super for these and I'm addicted to taking them. These were taken last Saturday with the QL17 GIII. Cost of camera: $40-something, including light seal kit. Experience gained repairing it: Priceless!

Oly RD
I went to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia two weeks ago with only an Oly RD and some SFX. The camera itself is gorgeous and cheap. I think it's my new favorite except that my fingers are a bit big for focussing. Taken behind the Arkaba woolshed for those that may know the area.

Very nice... I haven't been up to the Flinders for ages! I should hire, borrow or steal a car, throw my bike in the back and head on up there. Which I would be able to do if it weren't for the constant GAS.
Damn Rolleiflex, Nikon, Canon and Raleigh (yes, the last one is a bike)

Thanks Kin! Those shots were indeed taken at the Richmond Green park in Richmond Hill - it's one of my standard 'testbeds" for new gear acquisitions.
Cheers,

I don't want to double-post the images, but if you look in my RFF gallery here and here you can see some shots taken with my $30 Konica C35 Automatic (thanks again, Joe).

While I'd love a Leica, I can't justify the expense given the price of these ones:
Olympus Trip 35 (5$) - great kids camera - completely automatic
Zorki 4 with Jupiter 8 (25$) and Jupiter 12 (50$) - favorite street shooter
Canonet QL-17 (15$) - nice 40mm lens, unique perspective and auto capability

Editorial comment here;
it is amazing, some people have acquired these cameras for less than lunch for two at the local burger joint!

in one of the lustrum press books ( i believe it was either contact theory or darkroom 1), duane michaels talks about his double exposure techniques...the camera he used? the venerable (if you can call it that) argus brick!
