VueScan works fine on my MacMini with the Microtek ScanMaker 8700, but it makes the Minolta scanner and VueScan software freeze when focussing before scanning.

I've been all over it. Not a d*mn thing to do about it.

That's an interesting bug. You should file it.

I've run the latest VueScan build (can't remember the number at the moment) to drive my Epson 2450 flatbed/transparency scanner, the HP 6500 multipurpose scanner, and the Nikon Coolscan V ED, running on Mountain Lion. No problems at all.
