| CSC : Compact System Cameras - This new category of digital Compact System Cameras with interchangeable
lenses was mislabeled for a time as "Mirrorless Cameras" by those forgetting about "Mirrorless" Rangefinder cameras. Such
confusion is easily understandable, since interchangeable rangefinder cameras
were only recently introduced in 1932. hmm. CSC or
Compact System Camera is probably the best category description to date,
although I am fond of the old RFF desigation of CEVIL
indicating Compact Electronic Viewfidner Interchangeable Lens. This forum is here at RFF because via adapters these cameras offer an inexpensive way
to use rangefinder lenses on digital cameras -- in addition of just about every
35mm SLR lens you can think of. All offer the photo enthusiast an
incredible array of adopted lenses which was not possible before these new
digital formats. This group continues to grow in popularity and new
camera models! |

Let's see your Mirrorless kits
I'm not sure what forum to put this in, but since I'm kicking it off with my X-Pro1, here we go.
I'm very much enjoying using the X-Pro1 with manual focus lenses. I'm currently using a Jupiter-8 50/2, Hexanon AR 28/3.5, Flektogon 35/2.8, OM Macro 50/3.5, Rokkor 58/1.4, Color-Heliar 75/2.5, Nikon Series E 100/2.8, and Hanimex 200/4.5. Great fun and I love the way Fuji implemented manual focusing with the magnification feature - makes it so easy to nail focus at any aperture.
The engraving on the camera is the Kanji symbol representing the Japanese idea "wabi sabi", roughly meaning the appreciation of beauty in imperfection.

Is this supposed to be all mirrorless cameras? Or specifically about X-Pro1? This post is in X-Pro1 sub-forum.
Nice engraving BTW.

Yep, Sug. I'm hoping this suffices for the moment as a place to post pictures of ALL mirrorless cameras (digital, that is).
In my original post I said "I'm not sure what forum to put this in..." :-) There isn't a forum that's designed broadly for mirrorless cameras yet. They're all specific to micro four thirds, X100, XPro1, etc.. So.. I stuck it here in the XPro1 forum since my mirrorless camera is... an XPro1. :-)

P.S., Sug: the engraving is a laser engraving done by a company in Oakland called Aardvark Engraving. They're downtown on Broadway and they're pretty cheap and quick. Getting the design was the toughest part... had to buy it from a Japanese artist who sells pdf files of this type of thing.

It may be imperfect but such wonderful innovation. BTW I think the engraving is very beautiful.

Could be easier to get more exposure in general discussion forum as this board is rather deep in to specific model.
Rangefinderforum.com > Non Rangefinder Cameras > Fuji X Series > Fuji X-Pro1
Nice engraving job. I gotta check out the place for future projects...
Oh and next time, I can make you vector file for free.

Dang... coulda saved $7.95! :-)
I'll ask mods if move to general discussion would be possible (or create general mirrorless forum?). Thanks, Sug.

Hey Jamie, this is great! I was just looking at Aki Asahi's Goldish Croc skin and here it is!
Ive been on the fence about which texture to get I think Ive narrowed it down to the one you have. How do you feel about it? Do you like it? How much gold is in there in real life? Also, do you miss the grip at all? I cant decide which to do. Im not a big fan of the grip, but since the camera is so boxy, I'm thinking I should keep it on there. Also I have and love the grip with larger lenses.
I wish they used more materials. I would love to have some griptac on the xpro1.

How has this thread not taken off? Surely there are tons of mirrorless shooters on this board who would love to show off their cameras
