I did grab an M6 here a couple of days ago. I think the lens are the ones expensive now. The bodies are very reasonably priced IMO.

I really don't want to offend anybody, but there are too much sellers without any history here...
Sometimes looks like few register just for business...
Where should confidence come from?

It's also mid-summer, the worst time to buy or sell anything.

Times have been tough for years, but that didn't stop the prices from doubling on a lot of classic gear over that time.

If it's a timing issue, when is the prime time? I mean, you can't be too close to Christmas, tax season is difficult, summer is vacation time . . . on and on.

if someone wants something and the price is fair the item will sell.

people are still wanting top dollar for film cameras while secretly lusting for a drf...confusing times...lenses are just stupid these days...people want them to be investment items and want to make a profit on them...i'd rather go without.

My own feeling that, at least for the U.S., the best time to offer something for sale is in spring, when people start getting back their tax refunds. When you're flush with cash, you buy stuff.

Hello Joe, you could be correct, but I have no desire in a drf at all.....I am happy with film cameras (mostly Leicas') and even though I own 3 Leicas' which is too many in my opinion (m6ttl/m2/m3) I am in the market for another m6ttl because I prefer to have my back up camera be the same as my "main camera" which is the m6ttl......the m2 and m3 are just too awesome to think of selling.......I agree with you 100% on lenses, and thankfully I am happy with all the lenses I have and don't want or need anymore lenses....

but as far as a drf goes, I am probably in the minority here, but I have no interest at all.....if I were to go digital, I would get a big Nikon or Canon with all the bells and whistles, but I don't see that happening anytime soon....

cheers, michael

Someone mentioned about the sellers with no posting history. I'm not saying that necessarily means they aren't trustworthy, but I'd rather let others test the waters with them.

Good used lenses have been fetching high prices for some time. I think it started when the M8 came out. There are a number of lenses I'd love to buy if priced lower. I'd snap up an excellent grade 50mm Summicron DR with goggles if I could find what I consider a good deal for one.

I agree the prices are on the high side. Gears will sell at fair price.

no problem, you are probably right......as it seems now, more and more drf's are showing up in the classifieds.....my guess is people are waiting for the m10.....I imagine most users of the rd1/m8/m9 are happy with them and enjoy the digital workflow.....but I am more into the "film thing".....

cheers, michael

Down a few slots is a posting about c-41 labs closing. I think that puts a damper on buying new film equipment.

Talking about the classifieds, I don't seem to be able to access them through forum runner; am I missing something? I have the full version.

Thanks,
Stefan

Come to think about it: maybe that's a good thing (for my own good, as they say),but still, I'd like to know...

Prices do seem to be going up a bit, and in the summer I think a lot of people (myself included) spend less time on RFF classifieds and more time out shooting--at least in the northern regions where I'm at.

In the winter, I spend more time indoors lusting after gear that I can use in the spring/summer

Problem with feedback is that 90% don't leave them, this aint eBay. I've sold probably $10.000+ worth of stuff, probably more, my feedback section is as empty as... well, let's not go that far eh :-)

This is because the feedback system is convoluted and buried, and difficult for casual users to even locate...to get feedback, it's best to send buyers a direct link and a friendly reminder.

Good point, I don't even know how you give or receive feedback, no clue at all. Is there a link or something?
