Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Leica M9P "Masterpiece" is coming

Limited edition of 50 sets sold at the Meister (enlg. "master") Camera stores in Germany.

If I had the cash I´d buy one to sell it at a premium to asian collectors. Or two.

Not that this is in the least bit relevant to my photographic life, but I find it curious that the lens is the 28mm Summicron ASPH.

I would have thought a 35mm or 50mm would be "more classic".

The fact that there are only 50 of them and that it has "Meisterstück" engraved on it.

I will be waiting for one engraved "Novicestück" but costing less than a regular M9.

This may look weird only for first hand buyers. Consequent owners will shell out money for camera which has belonged to someone who BELIEVES.

Grey engraving - grey leather, logo in circle - very classic, rather tasteful compared to other specials imo.
Get used to it - Leica has been making special editions since 1928....
(Some of them hideous - including the 1928 and 1929 gold plated snake and lizard skin ones)
Actually this is not even a factory design but a special series ordered by Meister Camera, a major dealer.
