Accessories questions

Hey folks, waiting on my RD1,
wondering about 2 things:

- Where can I get OEM batteries (am I crazy?) or superior celled 3rd party ones? I just want to know witch are the good ones
- Is there anyway to get a cheap grip? Or a DIY solution? I am after a simple bulge to hold the rangefinder, not a huge monster.

Thanks for helping, take care!

lenmar batteries are the ones i buy and use now...i get them from an ebay seller...mdbattery, i think is the name.
there are variations on the battery...lower mAh usually...i get the 1800 mAh ones...i have seen them as low as 1300...i honestly don't remember why anymore...i remember reading that the higher ones last longer (iirc)...

grips are hard to find, the nicest ones that i have found are the 'bridge' grips...expensive and i think no longer available new...at least the last time i checked on ebay. they have 2 versions...small difference but one you must loosen to change the battery...not a big deal but annoying. i have both and stopped using the annoying one. they fit the hand perfectly though and are not that big.

The lower capacity ones (1300mAh) give me trouble once they are half-empty or so. The camera goes into sleepmode after taking a photo.
Has something to do with the burst-drain of the battery when saving to the card.

Go with equal or higher capacity batteries than the OEM battery (1600mAh iirc).
I use the Epson one and two 1800mAh 3rd party batteries for about a day worth of shooting.
