M2 quick load diagram plate

Apologies if I started this in the wrong forum - wavered between here and the "Camera repair and care" and even the "Classifieds - Wanted to buy". Mods please feel free to relocate.

I bought my M2 with the QL kit already installed; getting my head around how to use it but for now it stays. However it still has the original M2 film guide plate on base and I'd prefer the QL load diagram to be resident there. Can anyone steer me to a source of a quick load film guide plate?

I did try fashioning something with a print from the web, but it's pretty dodgy so I'm after the real deal.

Cheers and TIA.

I wonder if one off a later M would fit. M4 and up.
If it does you could probably find one without too much trouble from ebay or DAG.

It's been many years since I installed the quick load kit in my M2, but as I recall the diagram was a sticker to be applied to the original base plate. It seems likely that someone has made reproductions of this sticker or may have an original one. I'd check with the usual well-known Leica repair shops, including Leica themselves to see about a sticker... Good luck!

Thanks Doug. Encouraging news as I supposed I would need a whole new film guide plate. Excellent!!! I'll widen my search. Still keen on anyone's steering me down the right road to source this sticker.

Hi,

Will this do?

It's a bit oversized but you might want to work on it first...

Regards, David

PS A wild guess, have you the instructions? Let me know and I'll try and find them and scan them for you.

PPS Edit much later: the label is 20mm by 68mm long.

Thanks David. I might see what I can fashion from this file - appreciate the measurements too. Champion!!

No I do not have the instructions....the M2 arrived alone - well of course it had the usual Leica spirit crammed in the box too Be great if you could dig out the original instructions as I am working from internet commentary, reason, and healthy dose of trail and error. Suffice it to say that I have sacrificed my share of leader to the camera's innards ..OUCH!

Cheers,
Mark

Hi,

You can get the manual here:-

http://www.butkus.org/chinon/leica/l...2/leica_m2.htm

And the warp around quick guide here:-

http://www.butkus.org/chinon/leica/l...a_m2-brief.htm

Or rather a PDF of them.

I'll look out the quick load instructions and scan them and post them here asap, perhaps.

Regards, David

I came across a quickload kit for one of my M2's but the sticker was missing so I made a vector file from various images I found and the one from David.. If anyone wants it, pm me your email and specify if you want a .jpeg, .eps or .pdf...or you can just save this image, resize the cropmarks to 20mm x 68mm ( thanks again, David!) and you will get a pretty crisp print.

The sticker wasn't very sticky, and tended (eventually) to dry up and fall off.

A few years ago I came across a cache of NOS kits (all gone now) and the stickers had already died -- you'd need to glue them into the camera.

Cheers,

R.
