M4 Take up spool
I never noticed before it became twisted and was sticking out of the slots in the spool, but there is supposed to be a spring at the bottom, right? Bottom being the film loading position...making the spring towards the top of the camera.

Yeah there is, my M4 was missing one when I bought it and then gained one when I picked it up after a CLA. And yes, it has to be at the bottom.
