No.
I am sure.
If I attempt to do so I have a friend who is going to come and curb-stomp me back into reality.

No way, no how. Not even at half the price. My "old" Summicron is better than I am.

I'm happy with my pre-ASPH Summilux that I bought some time ago now for what seems like a bargain price - I think I got it for just over $1200 - I'm never letting it go.

Are they doing this to spur the sales of the summilux? cuz that lens all of a sudden seems like a bargain to me.

an, NO. i considered the cron 50 to be a relative steal in the leica world before this. now it's much more so. the new apo version might be phenomenal, but for more than three times the price! as has been intimated above, that's nocti territory!

the prospect of that would give the Leica designers a heart attack
I was annoyed by the $3500ish rumor price, but would have probably bit the bullet at that price. No justification for me at anything Over 4k, let alone 7k. The cron is now Leica's second most expensive lens, I can't imagine how much a 35 summicron apo asph would be.

I just bought one, but don't need it and haven't used it. See RFF classifieds if anyone is interested. Heck, maybe I should keep it because it costs less than half of the new APO Cron 50! (Just joking: need to sell it.)

Hell, no. If I wanted new and sharp I'd get a Planar, if I wanted Leica I'd get the Summilux. Leica has lost it. (I have a rigid cron btw.)

I was thinking it'd be $3,295 or so--but knew I'd prefer the previous Cron 50.

No ... but I will watch will a eagle eye for someone accidentally selling one for the price of the normal Summicron.

Maybe. The .95 Nocti is on my list. BTW, isn't the 50 'lux ASPH an APO lens too?

If you sell one kidney to finance the new M-monochrom; then you sell the second to pay for this APO Asph, then what do you do? Dialysis? Go back to film? What?
I applaud Leica for being able to do this stuff. But, it's all way, way beyond my budget or needs.

Given that I'm color blind (admit it; you could tell from my postings), near sighted (ditto) and suffer from astigmatism, why the heck do I want to pay $7,150 for a lens that sees better than I do?
However, if I were I rich man, I might consider such an extravagance.

My point exactly. What was the purpose of Leica coming out with an f2 lens that is three quarters the price of the f0.95 lens they already sell? I'm baffled.
Best,
