Wanted: Canon CanoScan FS4000US 35mm Filmstrip Holder

Hello,

Has anyone got a spare film carrier they'd be willing to sell or know where I can find one? Failing that, anyone know of a suitable alternative?

I've drawn a blank with Canon UK, Ireland & USA.

Thanks in advance.

When you drew a blank, was it from calling their parts department on the phone? They often have things that are not listed on the Canon website. That's what I did when in need of a film carrier for the 8800.

Good luck with your search in any case.

good luck, I've given up.
I called everywhere, asked at Canon directly, at their UK service partners, etc.

they pop up on eBay once a year for a ridiculous price...

It was.

I've also tried scanner repair and servicing companies. Nada. I heard it suggested that schools may have held onto these scanners as apparently, they don't throw things away!

Why not get a replacement from a current scanner, like a Plustek, and fashion it to fit?

Some of the simple scan/cams (those cheap usb converters) offer extra film strip holders pretty cheap.

The Canoscan FS4000US is an auto feed scanner that relies on the teeth on the bottom of the film holder and a notch in the rail of the film holder to tell the scanner which holder it has and where it is. Not a bad thought though.

It's too bad you couldn't get the good folks at http://www.betterscanning.com/ to build some holders for the FS4000US. When you google the film holders for this scanner nearly all hits are for people asking where you can buy more.

I bought a FS4000US a few years ago with no film strip holders for about $50 new because the holders are difficult to find. I called up Canon in New Jersey and had to make a few phone calls, hardest part was finding the part number for the film holder, then I had to call Canon parts and they had plenty, cost me $11 plus shipping.

My tray has no numbers or anything significant markings, except 35mm Filmstrip Holder. When i called they had plenty of 35mm, slide, and APS holders

I'm in the same boat!

I did gather this information from a phone call with Canon.

35mm Filmstrip Holder
Canon P/N D70-0013-000
Sale No. 6736A001

Slide Mount Holder
Canon P/N D70-0014-000
Sale No. 6982A001

1X24 Cartridge Holder
Canon P/N D70-0015-000

I have an idea to make these holders though. I'll start a new thread.

Wow, that translates to $91 US. That's a lot of cash for a film holder.
