Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Leica M Monochrome. But with an LCD on the back. How exciting/crushing this will be for some potential users.

I see Steve Huff and Sean Reid are all there... Just wondering, does Ken Rockwell ever get invited to any of those things?

This is somewhat low, actually...it might buy a barrel and the front element. The bayonet and the rear elements are extra cost...

Also saw Thorsten Overgaard and Jaapv and Eric Kim passing by, while Ken Rockwell is probably making up a report from his basement right now.

Cool that it will ship with Silver Efex Pro, with an emphasis on the b&w film emulation. Going to be a fascinating camera. But at $8k, It's going to be interesting to see how well it sells.

Oh boy.. $8,000 USD - but they're claiming up to ISO 10,000 and they're giving you Silver Efex Pro 2 as well as Lightroom...

I don't know if that's worth it imho but I'm sure it'll have a lot folks oohing and ahhing over it

Cheers,
Dave

Very true.
Also interesting, this ability to switch between various tones, including sepia, selenium, cool. Obviously none of this will appeal to the traditional film users.

Yes, but even whispering about Reid content will get you killed. It's the secret Freemasons society of the photography world.

mmmmm black chrome...

all it needs is the collapsible 50mm fresh from servicing and it would be the perfect companion to take along for a roadtrip across the country.
