Best way to sell a camera...

So as some of you already know, I am going to buy an M6. However in the midst of that, I was going to sell my M2 anyway and was wondering what would be the best way.

I was told that I could do that thing where I can display it at a shop and overtime it generates more and I can get more back.

Or sell it in this forum? Other forums?

Ebay?

I think it's easier to sell cheaper cameras because you can sell them on eBay but with a Leica, I think it's a bit more difficult!

Sell it here. Ebays fine, even for Leica, but its friendlier and cheaper here.

Support this site .....

Much better folks to deal with, and you will most likely get more $ in your pocket.

Either here or Ebay, if you price it right, with buy it now (ebay) you can often sell it within a couple of hours. I just sold a Nex5 and M-Hex 28mm lens within 1 hour of listing...

Rarely see an m2 last a full week here if it's priced accurately for its condition. The rff classifieds are really great.

If you're buying an M6, I recommend Aperture in London, they give a 1 year warranty on used leica too. I just bought an Elmarit-M ASPH 28 from them for £150 less than I could have got it for on ebay or here.

If you don't want the hassle of selling , they will sell yours on commission too for a 20% fee

Hi Tessar,

Ah yes I did talk to them, and they said they would take in the M2 which would part-pay for my M6, but I'm guessing I may not get much out of it, considering that I literally treated my Leica like a piece of gold.

...and they don't have any M6's at the moment which is driving me absolutely nuts (not the one I want).

RFF classifieds are great, I sold most of my stuff here, though I have to stay the hard part is coming up with the right price. My listed M7 has been ignored for a few weeks now, first time it happens, I think I priced it too high

I made good experiences with selling stuff here.....cheaper and nice people to deal with.

But why are you changing the M2 against an M6? The M2 is the much better (built) camera.
But just my 2 cents....

I start here and if it doesn't sell in a couple week, I put it on eBay. Prefer to sell here, the people are cool and its a lot cheaper. I sold a lens on eBay a few weeks ago and the fees were over $100. RFF classifieds charge $7

The good thing about Ebay (even if not selling) is checking out completed auctions to get an idea of a reasonable selling price.

Compare the condition of those sold against yours to get a price you would be happy to receive.

Hi Sara. Please place for sale ads in the RFF classified ads section. Offers to buy, sell, or trade should not be in discussion threads. Sorry .... rules.

I've bought and sold here and found it all worked out very well. Much better than ebay IMO.

It will sell on ebay or on RFF... it's an M2, an easy camera to sell.

I am getting tired of all these "how to sell" threads. If you want to sell it here use the classifieds. Dont "sneak" into the regular forum.

I agree with everyone that suggests to deal through here. Hope the trade works out. Let us know what other cameras you want to sell as well!

Don't be silly! I've no time for this! I don't even know why people say this - I would have never in a million years "sneak and sell" in a thread. I didn't even know people do this TILL IT WAS MENTIONED HERE, and I was genuinely asking this question because I really don't know what the best way is - I've always used eBay and just wanted a more general opinion.

I know if I want to sell something I use the classified ads - logic.

I wasn't "sneaking" anything here. I was just asking a general question as in what was the best way. If the majority said ebay, I would've gone to ebay. If people said RFF, I'd make an ad in the classifieds forum.

Actually, in the end, I may just bring it to a shop :/

I don't mind such a post from time to time. I've lots of stuff to sell and like to see the opinions. Perhaps, one of these posts will even get me to sell.
