Replacing SSD

I have my OS and programs on an SSD and am running out of room. I'd like to simply buy a new larger SSD and move everything to it. Is this as simple as copying over to a new SSD? I'd like to just use the older SSD as a scratch disk then, does that make sense?

Yes to all of it! That is, recent SSD copy tools can be helpful as SSD performance is alignment critical and older disk cloning software (or a plain Linux dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb) are generally alignment unaware.
