Is the OVF/EVF supposed to switch back and forth?

I was messing around in low-light and had it set to EVF (which works better on close objects) and it kept switching to OVF when I took it off my eye and then back to EVF when it was on my face. It was odd. I love this camera so far, but it feels a little delicate and finicky.

Edit: my bad for posting in the wrong sub-form.

It's not switching to the OVF when you take your eye away, it's just turning off the EVF and switching to the LCD screen. If you change the view mode to dedicated viewfinder (instead of "eye sensor" or only LCD), the EVF (or OVF, whatever you set it to) will stay on.

Given the somewhat complex operating 'modes' of this camera, I'd suggest doing a bit more research around the web before assuming something's wrong. I've had similar experiences with mine and initially thought something was wrong and was ready to return it for repair. But then found someone that, for example, the camera behaves differently at low or high f-stops, depending on shutter speed. I'm slowing learning how this little beast works, but it doesn't come quickly!

I don't have mine with me at the moment, and so can't try to duplicate your problem now. I'll check back tomorrow to see if someone was able to help. Good luck.

Use the 'view mode' button to cycle through the 3 options of view modes. You've got LCD only, OVF/EVF only, and eye sensor which will switch to the OVF/EVF when your eye is close to it, and switch to the lcd when you pull away from it. best to leave it on OVF/EVF imo.
