Wonderful bokeh on the No. 1 shot. I shoot my Jupiter 9 on a Contax SLR (with m42 adapter) so can't contribute. But I can attest it is a very good lens to have for portraits.

An older one from my gallery here.
An LTM version on my Bessa R. I got very fortunate with this lens, it hasn't needed any adjustment to work well on my cameras.
I do want to get an M42 version to use on my SLRs.

Hi,
You'll have to excuse my ignorance of these modern digital things but does this mean that I don't have to buy an M9 and a set of adapters to do digital test shots with my older screw thread lenses?
And is there one of them that's a year or two out of fashion that I can buy for a pittance? I've noticed digital cameras drop their price rapidly and, now and then, you can get new ones for a quarter (perhaps) of the opening price (like laptops etc).
Regards, David

Well, you can buy an m4/3 camera from Panasonic or Olympus, and then get an adapter to use LTM lenses. There are plenty of cheap m4/3 cameras around now, secondhand or brand new. I recently saw an Olympus EP-1 being sold at about 40% of its original price. You won't get M9 resolution or colours, but for web viewing or small prints up to A4, it should be more than good enough.

Thanks, Alei.
When I first got my Jupiter-9, it was in very bad shape. The focusing ring was very stiff and there were fungus inside the glass. I sent it to Fedka.com for repairs and cleaning and it came back with glass looking almost new. Yuri of Fedka however said the helicals are already worn so it will focus but not as smooth as before. With the LTM cameras it is outstanding at about 7 feet and beyond but very hard to focus at closer range specially at wider apertures. Some how it works better with M4/3 digital cameras since focusing is not dependent on the rangefinder cams.
Yes, the M4/3 cameras are very good in testing old manual lenses because there are many mount adapters available for them. They are very inexpensive too. Just be sure to get an electronic viewfinder for the camera, it's very hard to manually focus with the LCD screens specially under the bright sun.

Leica M8 + 1956 KMZ J9 in Kiev mount + Amedeo adapter.
Does not go fully to infinity unlike my other lenses with this adapter, but focus is good.

I also have the LTM version, but the Kiev one is so much better.

I had seen this thread before but never looked. Some really nice photos here. Thanks for sharing everyone. I need to get my Kiev repaired and get out with my J-9 lens. I haven't used it much.

I think, this is the only one I have uploaded into my gallery, taken with Pentax H3 Jupiter 9 combo on Fuji Acros 100:
