X-Pro1: Sandisk Class 10 Ultra vs. Extreme?

On the X-Pro1, has anyone noticed a difference between the 30Mb/sec and 45Mb/sec cards? I need to buy some new SD cards (to be used in an M8. X100, Nex-5, and X-Pro1), and I am wondering if there is any real point in the fastest cards.

I did notice with the original Sandisk Ultra SDHC cards, the buffer can take a while to clear on the X100 and a sec or two on the X-Pro1. Flipping through images on the X-Pro1 can also sometimes seem slow (but this may not be the card). The M8 does not have any problems with current cards, and the NEX seems to be fine too (though it's not really used for machine-gunning).

I'm sure that either is going to be a lot faster than what I am currently using, which is a fleet of 16 x 2Gb Extremes from 2005.

I'm shooting a SanDisk Extreme (45 MB/sec, class 10), but haven't done any speed tests. Seems plenty fast. What specifically would you like me to look for?

I've been using 45 MB/s UHS-1 cards, it can take a few seconds to write to the card.

I have 95 MB/s cards arriving today, will see how fast they are.

I'm using a Sony class 10 in my XP1. Even with that I can't say the write speed is blazingly fast.

If you finish a burst in continuous, does the camera have the grey squares in the viewfinder for more than a second? With the Ultra IIs, you get that, then the camera releases control to you and finishes copying the stuff to the card on its own. I'm not worried about how long it takes the camera to finish what it's doing; I'm more worried that the camera shuts you out (as happens in a more extreme fashion on the X100 when you auto-bracket AE).

Also, on playback, when you are flipping fast at full size, does it hesitate with the 45Mb cards? Sometimes it's slow going to roll back, say, 20 images.

The copy-back-to-computer speed is of little concern...

In a burst, I get about 15 frames before it slows just a bit; gray square for just about a second. Flipping the playback it does stutter a bit after about 10-15 frames.

With a class 6, I get twelve shots and then the squares for 1.5 seconds. The buffer on this camera is excellent. I wonder if the X100-tier product is ever going to be like this.

What does hang up the camera is the AE bracket mode. You see all three pictures almost instantly (unlike the X100, which does them one at a time) - but then it takes about 4 seconds before it saves all of them and release control back to you.

I got the 95mb/sec sandisk and I am very happy with response.

Much faster than Class 6 cards in an EPL1, hardly noticeable difference in the Nex, no noticeable difference in the M8.

Wow; the speed on my original Ultra IIs is only 9Mb/sec. I'm guessing that anything will be a step up...
