Just received the OM-D today. These shots are with 20/1.7, shot in RAW+Jpeg Fine (with factory standard image tuning) then the Jpegs transferred to iPhone via Eye-Fi (OM-D is "Eye-Fi Connected") then to iPhoto via Photo Stream. Quick basic tuning done in iPhoto on some photos, but no noise reduction or drastic PP applied. MINI, coffee table and kitty shots are at ISO 1600.

Next time there's a SF meet we can compare the aesthetics of black vs silver bodies.

Yeah it is really great, but I foolishly sold mine when I got out of m4/3 system last time, and this is my friend's copy. I should be getting my 45/1.8 back from that friend shortly so I'm looking forward to the results with the equally impressive 45mm.

Next time there's a SF meet we can compare the aesthetics of black vs silver bodies.

Love to check out the silver body. I personally prefer the leatherette covering of the silver one tho I wanted the black body. Aki-asahi is working on the new coverings for the OM-D so I might try that in the future. So far I am very impressed with the OM-D.

It's quite good for this "tiny" sensor huh? Picasa does rather aggressive compression so the details are lost in the photos above, but I can see myself using @1600 regularly without hesitation.

Eye-Fi card works on most cameras, but those specifically designed cameras can turn on/off the wireless function of the card from camera menu, and can stay on until the transfer is over. I've been shooting with RAW+Jpeg and directly transfer the Jpegs to my iPhone. RAW files are backed up to HDD once in a while just like you'd do with negative strips for later use. I am quite a big fan of computer-less workflow for casual digital photos. iPhone and iPad can do quite a bit and I don't have to deal with cables are removing the card from camera.

m43 has been having smearing problems since its launch - long before the Xpro1.
Wide M lenses suck on m43 and with the crop a 21mm wide becomes a 42mm standard of mediocre performance.
This is now rather irrelevant now as m43 has a good spread of native wide prime lenses : 12,14,17 and 20mm.

If you want to use M lenses, the Ricoh GXR has offset micro lenses and was specifically designed to work well with M glass.

My understanding of Adobe RGB vs SRGB is that the Adobe RGB will provide a wider gamut. It is preferable for printing, SRGB is preferable for screen display. I'm greedy, I want the most information. With PS or Lightroom, I can always convert to SRGB. This is the same mode that I used with my Oly E-510 also.

Busy with work and haven't had chance to really go out and shoot, but here are a few shots with Oly 45/1.8 this time. All are SOOC with standard image settings, fine jpeg transferred via Eye-Fi to Photo Stream to iPhoto to Picasa. All three are at @ISO1600.







I love this lens, but so tempted to add the PL 25/1.4...

Oddly, they've been available in Manila since the end of March - and cheaper than on Amazon too (about US$1,200 with the kit lens). This is not usually the case, but hey, I'm not complaining!

Thanks, Gabby is a sweetheart. Love your last cat pic, nice DOF. For my shooting, I actually like the wider DOF of m43. I often shoot in low light situations where I'm struggling with shutter speed and ISO, so I'm inevitably shooting with the lens wide open with too thin DOF for closer subjects. With m43 I'm pretty sure I won't only have one eye in focus, yet I can still have some OOF area.

I'm happy with the PL 25/1.4, but to be honest I still use the 20/1.7 just as much if not more because it's smaller. I haven't observed a huge difference, I haven't had time to look at the extreme corners at 200%, lol.

PS, got mine last week having pre-ordered on the first day available. From what I'm hearing the silver ones in particular are coming out slowly, but even the black ones aren't stocked much anywhere.

re the panny 20/1.7, i dont know why it gets less love than the 25/1.4. qualitatively, i dont see enough of a difference to justify the price disparity. and, just as a matter of personal opinion, ive always found 40s more versatile than 50s...
