Returning to San Francisco CA in May '12
I said I'd return... and here I go!
The California contingent I had the pleasure to meet back in December 08 (Ken, Bob, Papercut, Thomas and Ray, among others) is a nice, pleasant and knowledgeable group. I was very fortunate to meet them some years ago, when we met at the Ferry Building and walked up Market Street all the way to a nice mall, where we had lunch.
I said to Ken I'd try to return... and here I am! I have a conference, from May 23 to 26, 2012, but my wife arranged it so that we'll be there for a little longer and may be visit friends in Berkeley.
You guys have been warned... Take care! Let's hope we can arrange a meeting again!

Looking forward to a meet up. Let us know what days work best for you and we can all plan sometime fun around it.
If you happen to be free during a weekday the gallery at Pier 24 is always worth a visit.

Would really like a meet-up here in SF, but my wife and I will be in Istanbul on those dates. Maybe next time!

Great news Francisco! I look forward to seeing you again and, as Darren said, we'll certainly work around your schedule. Should be a great time.
Kent
PS- My niece moved to the Chicago area so I might be visiting your neck of the woods later this year!

Ken, let me know about your dates. I'm 65 miles West from the city but things can be arranged.
BTW, Oakland? My wife (ever the travel organizer) was asking me about destinations I'd like to hit. What's with Oakland? Thanks for the suggestion!!

Francisco, do you need us to hunt down some ETC (ecstacy for you non-users) and shrooms for you, like last time? I think Ray picked up the ETC and Kevin supplied the shrooms, but Kevin is now dealing on the east coast. Randy, do you want to handle Kevin's load?

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike, but I think I'll pass. I "handled" Kevin's "load" quite enough when he was out here living on the Left Coast...

Just after I get back from traveling too-- It's been awhile since I've been to a meet-up, so keep me posted.
Francisco- if you're in Berkeley, stop into Looking Glass and say hi- If I can't make the gathering I'm probably there at work anyway... and Owen and Kent and some of the other regulars here stop in there time to time too...(even Mike- but we try to warn people first... )

Wow, was it December 2008? I do not remember much except Kent brought his Nikon SP, Francisco and I talked about the Leicameter, and we had beer somewhere. A May visit with Francisco sounds great. I am in a selling mood and will hopefully have something to bring with film in it.

Right now, at Sausalito, CA, just a few miles from the beautiful town of San Francisco.
Since I'll be attending a conference (and staying at the Intercontinental in Howard Strasse), and I'll present my paper on Saturday at noon (the very last spot in the event), I may be able to meet on Thursday or Friday or Saturday afternoon. Last time it was great (I had no meetings and was able to meet with several people), but now we're traveling with a 3-year old named Edmund, who knows how to pose but doesn't know that it's important to hold it.
I'll try to add updates to this thread as we go. If we can meet that'll be fun! I brought my Leica M5 and the same digital behemoth as three years ago, but with a different lens.

Finally arrived! I have made time for Saturday afternoon, at about 2 PM (with my better half's permission). Anybody to meet at the same building we met years ago at the end of Market St?

Hi Francisco, if I get back Friday, I'm free to wander on Saturday and could meet you at the Ferry Building, where we met last time.
Unlike the old people like Kent, who can't remember where we went, we left the Ferry Building, walked South of Market, and ended up at the Emporium (Westfield) for food, beer, and a discussion about a repair person.
Next Papercut and RayPA got drunk and almost went to blows over the relevance of some obscure photographer, and the rest of us got out of there. Last, Kent sourced some cheap smack on Ellis in the TL and all of us (especially you, the guest, who has double hit privileges) were good to go. Memory ends there.
Edit: Flashback just came in, from after we smoked rocks. Kevin was popping the flash on his Ricoh GR1 in people's faces B.G.-style on Market, and he almost got his a$$ whupped by a young lady who took offense. Kent and I ran away like red-headed step-children, no foolin.

This is indeed great news!! I don't think it'll be difficult to pick any of the bunch at the Ferry Building. I will be the one with a beard! (and a silver Leica M5)

Not a thread bump, but an important message.
I'm presnting in a session that ends at 2:15 PM. I would like to change (in my hotel room) and then go to the Ferry Building (I'll take a cab!) to be there at 2:45 PM or thereabouts. I hope this is OK for those involved...
See you soon!

We'll meet at the small cafe in the San Francisco Museum of Art across the street from Yerba Buena Gardens at about 2:45 PM. Ken's suggestion. We can see the exhibit and shoot the streets or have a beer of all of the above! I'll have my Leica M5 and so will Ken, so we'll be the rogue guys.

Man do my white glasses look nice or what! The banana hammock in the previous shot speaks for itself.
If Darren will gear up we could have 3 M5s there, a new record
