Post What camera did you own before?

And how many. I added them all up and came to the following list. A few I still own, I usually have a number of camera's at the same time, but still, it made me scratch my head, I hope there are no psychiatrists reading this thread!
I might add that I mean camera's that you owned to actually use, not just to collect!
* denotes currently still owned.

I'm not going list them all, but my first camera was a Yashica D. I believe they were between $60 and $75 new in 1969. Mine was a gift from a relative, so I don't know what it cost. To make a long story short, today whenever I use my current Rolleicord V, there is a deep rooted connection to that first camera.

I've only been into photography for about 6 years so my list is short:

Canon EOS 650
Canon 55e*
Olympus Trip 35
Rolleiflex 2.8d
Voigtlander Bessa R2A
Yashica GTN*
Yashica T4 Super

Canon s40
Canon s50*

Oh boy...that's more than a camera a year isn't it...zowie. I may need a second and third job if I'm going to have both a home and a camera collection by the time I've been photographing for 50 years.

I started with a Kodak Instamatic that used 126 film cartridges. I used the Instamatic until my college roomate lent me an Olympus RC. I then purchased a Nikon FE2, followed by a Nikon 8008 (used that for 15 years). Sold that for a Contax N1 before plunging into Conatax rangefinders.

Well, until this year i only used disposable cameras .... true. Then in the spring a friend of mine show me his digicam, and i though that it was time to get a camera.
Well, i went to a store and bought a Canon 350D. There was a problem because the only one that they got was for show only and they told me that mine will come in 20 days. I had a problem then because i was going to hollydays. No wanting to go another time without a "proper" camera i spoke to a friend to lend me an 35mm camera. He sold me his canon AE-1 program + 50mm 1.4 SSC + 35mm 2.8 SSC for ... 75€, it was a bargain.
Bought some Velvia on his advice. During this hollidays i went to my father's who gave me his slide projector, his Yashica Lynx 14.... After that i bought an electro 35, a A-1, a Lubitel ..... Had the GAS attack before even know what GAS means
All said i still have my 350D, mainly for my wife use .

No excuses about 50 years here , but most of these have accumulated in the last 3 years (which is _REALLY_ scary) and I have almost all of them still.

SLR's, 8 Minolta's (SR1, SRT's to X-700), 7 M42's (Pentax SPII, Fujica, Vivitar, Yashica, Zenit...), 1 Pentax Super, 2 Y/C (Yashica's), 1 Canon AE-1, 2 Contaflexes, 1 6x6 Salyut, 3 EOS (630, 300D, 350D).

RF's, 2 Speed Graphics (baby & 4x5), 1 Busch Pressman (6x9), 2 Moskva's (2&5), Z2C, Z4, Z4K, F2, F5, K3a, K4a (x2), Leica IIIa, Bessa R, 3 Canonets (G3 QL17, 28 & 19), 2 Hi-Matics (F & 7S), 1 Minolta A, 2 Oly (SP & XA), 1 Century Graphics 35, 1 Argus C3, 1 Kodak Retina IIa.

Other, Calumet 4x5, Kodak Retinette 2B, Retina 1a, Halina 35x, Vivitar UW, Canon A70, Voightlander 110.

Now, let me get out of the way before bmattocks & wierdcollector cause a buffer-overflow error with their lists

edit: forgot the TLR's, Ricohflex Million & Seagull 4A

Photography is more of a hobby for me but I've still managed to obtain and part with several cameras along the way. The ones I most regret selling were the Nikon L35AF (P&S) and the Minolta Hi-Matic G. Those were sweet cams; a lot of fun to use.

Jaap, Kin: like yourselves, I simply cannot part with my Minolta SLRs. I've got an XG-9 and and SR T-101...there's something about those cams...they feel so good in the hand and they seem to be greater than the sum of their parts.

Chris- the only Minolta lens I still have is the 100 mm macro with 1:1 adapter. In its time it was the only serious competitor for the Leica Apo-macro 100.I hardly ever or better said never use it any more and should really sell it, but somehow the few Euro's it would bring me don't compensate for the sight of it sitting on top of my camera-cupboard.

Started with a Brownie for my fifth birthday -- first picture was of my dog's excrement (it seemed like a good idea at the time). I've had too many cameras since then to list, but the interesting thing is my photography has not improved significantly...I should sell everything and get another Brownie.

This reminds me of when I was younger, listing and counting the women I had sex with. It was a relief to finally reach a point where the list and the numbers no longer mattered; I remember the first, a few of the memorable affairs, the last (my wife), and those I still lust after .

sheesh i'm such a lightweight compared to you guys...

aside from a 16mm camera i had as a kid, i started with

Canon AE-1 (my dad's, but he's giving it to me soon as he never uses it anymore)
Canon Rebel
Canon EOS 1V HS (bought 2 summers ago, before i knew that i should be investing in a Leica)
Yashica GSN
Canon QL17 (new version)
Rollieflex

It took me about 5 years to save for the 1V, I assume some sort of simmilar timeline for my M6 and another 5 years for any lenses, and then another 5 years for the M3 (for my 75 lux )

My camera list is a lot longer than my woman list. I've been married to the same woman for 38 years

Come to think of it--Maybe my woman list is short cuz I spent so much time with cameras.

I have that too... it was an unlisted lense in an auction of a bag of lenses & accessories + a busted X-700 with a BIN of $100-

I have a SR1, SRT101 & 200, X-570, X-700's, XD-11 & XG-M.

I love the fact that these MC, MD primes are just so _cheap_ right now. I also had a 100/2.5 given to me as part of a package as well, so I have lots of good glass to use on APX100 & FP4+.

wow, this thread filled up fast.

I'm not only an RF newbie but a photo newbie. My dad's Canon 7s was the first "real" camera I had that really got me interested in shooting, and that was only a few months ago. Before that I had a Ricoh R1s that I still love, but it's all taken apart because I tried to figure out why the motor is so loud now. Since inheriting the Canon, and finding this site, I've added a Minolta XG-M, Rapid Omega 200 and a Kodak Hawkeye Flash.
