Time to take inventory
Ok, we have had quite a flurry of new to us cameras in the past few months. If my memory is correct it started some time around when Richard aquired his M3. For argument sake, lets just say...
What cameras have you aquired this summer (winter for the folks in OZ)?
I brought a Bessa R2 home,
Richard's M3
Taffer's CL
Joe's Canon P
Gene's Bessa R2
Who else, there have been plenty...

I've been getting rid of cameras, not buying more, with one exception - Bessaflex M42. But that's not a rangefinder, so doesn't count.

Latest aquisitions
Now, let me see... ;-)
Yashica Lynx 14e (bought from a friend for about $65, in perfect working order), Fed 2 and Fed 3 on a local flea market (each about $15), both (now) working.
And latest and greatest: an excellent M2 purchased in Austria, plus (supposedly) non-working LTM Summitar 50/2 (now working perfectly :-)) and collapsible M Summicrom 50/2 with some cleaning marks on the front element. Both lenses are OK - although the Summicron is prone to flare (I have to remember to use the hood at all times).
I'm hooked on Leica M2, what can I say :-))
Although, the "best buy" is definitely the Yashica Lynx - outstanding 45/1.4 lens and a great performer. Anything of such quality inscribed "Ernst Leitz" would undoubtedly cost at least ten times as much - if not more! And I got a camera to boot (with working and accurate meter!).

ummmmmm........ok, OZ winter, so since July......
Rangefinders only?
Zeiss Ikon Nettar 517/16 (technically not a RF, but did come with a period clip-on Telex RF - so it counts!)
Leica IIIf with Summitar 50/f2
Olympus 35 SP
That's more than enough!

No additional cameras for me either, though I did discover a "treasure" in a bag of junk cameras my wife bought a couple years ago for theatre props... Kodak Junior 620 folding 6x9. Had it CLA'd, need to get a roll of 620 for it.
Got lenses though! CV 50/2.5 Color-Skopar; Zeiss-Jena Flektogon 20/4 for M42, and Pentax SMC 24/2.8 for K mount. Also a couple of Gossen meters: Luna Pro F and Luna Star F.
That was my Spring Fling, and like Richard I have sworn off eBay... for a while!

Apart from the M3 that rover mentioned I also got an Olympus 35LE (bought pre-ebay-cut-off) that I'm expecting in the mail this week.

This winter ... CV 15mm Heliar, Chrome J8, Black J12 + Finder and second type Zorki 5 + J8 that is due any day now (I hope )
I have been trying hard not to buy any new gear but I'm struggling hehe.. I have been very tempted to get a Bessa R + 35mm Skopar combo the Oz importer has on special. I'm going travelling mid next year to Europe and will be taking a RF (LTM) along but don’t know what it will be yet, The Bessa I'm telling myself would have a reliability edge over my Soviet bodies... But then maybe the money would be better spent on more film. HHmmmm.

Bought an unused FED 5 with Industar 61 ld lens on Ebay from a Ukraine seller. It arrived in eleven days, but had a crack in the front viewfinder window. The seller offered to make some kind of amends but as the camera is perfectly usable and otherwise just fine I told him it wasn't necessary. For some reason this seller has a number of these with red plastic cladding instead of the black vulcanite or whatever FED 5's originally came with. The camera was obviously unused, however and including postage the damage came to $40.00. I posted three pictures taken with it on the "View from our Houses" thread.

complete inventory change
actually, for this year my complete inventory has changed.
i sold all my mamiya 6 outfit (2 bodies/2 lenses)and bought the bessa r with 2 lenses.
then i bought a fed 2 that almost works, along with 3 russian 50s.
then i bought the p, the canon 50/1.8 in trade for my konica s3, and the shade/series 6 holder, courtesy of bill m.
i also bought another oly 35 rc, traded some darkroom stuff for the konica s3 and canonet 1.7
bought & then later sold 2 himatics, 7s and 9.
and another 7s that only works in manual.
oh yeah, 2 konica c 35s, one that i think works.
and i actually even took a few photos

Purchases this summer: mostly film (Ektachrome and Elite Chrome), and a nice Yashica 44D, courtesy of Joe (which came with case, manual and some film to boot).
I was thinking of snatching a couple of lenses this summer... but I'll put it off until the next.

In addition to the Bessa R2 I also did a trade with Bill M that resulted in a Canonet QL17 GIII -- lovely classic RF!

Yes, I too succumbed (is that a word?) to the summer buying spree, brought on by a bunch of guys who now state they're not going to buy anymore gear, geeeez, fickle like women
(1) Leica M6 Classic with 35/2 summicron and 50/2 summicron, both with vented hoods, Leica polarizer (all in one auction)
(1) Yashica 35CC-came with crack in the RF glass (courtesy of US Postal) but works great.
(1) Olympus SP that I need to shoot more often.
(1) Canon QL17 early in the summer, my favorite fixed lens RF right now.
It's been interesting to see everyone shoot the same camera like the QL17, seems to be the most popular, with the FEDs and the Zorki's on the list as well.

"Didn't Brian Sweeney just pick up another Nikon, S3 maybe?"
No, That would be another SP; great user, with F1.4 lens, under $1K. Several Canonets from Rob 2 of 3 now working, third needs a front elment; Chrome GSN, needs pads but works, Konica S3 from Joe for the Canon 50, and a Minolta 7Sii from Rob, the rest is a blur...

Joe no, God no.
3 Leica's, if I did that you would have to take me in as a housemate as my current one, the wife, would be after me with a shotgun.
No, those guys gained ownership of said Leicas. I still am a 2 Bessa man.

Er... yes, Taffer's CL is here !
I'd include though the veeery nice CV pancake lens as a summer purchase also (thanks to Plexi for pointing me in the right direction to get it ). The Canon 7 was in fact a spring purchase but it took so long to arrive (was returned to the seller we still don't know why ) and had to come back again that in fact I received it in July !
So I think I'll be only visiting eBoy to try to get some 'cheap' film. Found a good pack from a seller in UK, wish me luck !
And answering to a previous post somewhere, yes Todd, if you have remaining crumbs from that Oreos please send them to me

oh man rover, and i don't even drink!
i completely misread that post.
was this a post re. 'summer' purchases or for the past year?
i may have added too much to my list if that was the case.
i gotta slow down the reading and up the comprehension.

Doug,
You are aware of the many creative ways that 120 rollfilm can be used in a 620 camera, yes? One of the best is to get yourself a Rollex 620 camera on eBoy for about $5 - make sure it has the 620 empty spool inside. Roll a 120 onto another 120 inside the camera (don't bother taking photos, obviously), then put the 620 spool in and roll again. Now your 120 film is on a 620 spool and you can use it in your Kodak Jr. Do the same thing when you turn the film in, and you can turn it in on a 120 spool, so you don't lose your 620 spool. Buy a couple of spare 620 spools on eBoy and you're all set.
Lots of websites out there describe it better than I could.
Best Regards,
Bill Mattocks

I had thinned out the inventory before we moved this spring and sold most of my Yashica collection, the Mamiya 6 and my CL. I figured that I had what I needed in usable cameras. Then sitting home one day just trolling through the internet I found a store in the UK with a Plaubel Makina 670 that they described as excellent. After a couple of e-mails and some pictures, I bought it. My only regret is not doing it when the GBP was only worth $1.40

Gerry, have you received the Plaubel yet?
It's an intriguing camera but I was always afraid of the problem with the thongs on it.
