UK Gallery looking for submissions - 'Less is More'

Hi all

I am posting this as I thought it may be of interest to some

A local gallery ( The Gallery Upstairs) in Berkhamsted are looking for submissions for an exhibition to be run From 22 feb for 4 weeks entitled 'Less is More'. its a joint Exhibition showing Monochrome photography next to a Ceramics show entitled 'The Empty Vessel'. They are looking at all types of monochrome print from Tradition wet printing to good quality inkjet including all historic methods of producing a monochrome print, daguerrotypes etc.

They are ideally looking for Photographers from around the Chilterns but in this case will be happy to look further afield but bear in mind you need to get the mounted prints to them on a specified date.

I have no attachment to the Gallery, other than my wife Louise exhibits her Textiles work there sometimes and I will put some work in for submission myself, I just thought it might appeal to some here.

All the work in the exhibition will be for sale and if your work is selected you can also have 2 pieces of browser work ( card mounted prints) and cards . Commission is only 12% but they ask for £15 submission fee for upto 4 prints. It is a non profit making gallery to support local artists

Hi Chris

Interesting write-up for the Gallery.
I was particularly taken with the following when describing the type of print to be accepted:
'The term monochrome is usually taken to mean the same as black and white or, more likely, grayscale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single colour, such as green-and-white or green-and-black'.
Fascinating!
Wondered what I had but decided that I was hardly in the Chilterns or even in 'spitting distance' and that what I initially had in mind came into a category of 'More is Less' - another time perhaps.
Best of luck with your entries.
jesse
