Just sold my x100

Overall - I just wasn't happy with the speed of the auto-focus and speed of the picture capture to screen.

I really liked the size and the quality of the pictures once I got them into the camera and on the screen but I went back to my Sony NEX-5...

If we all liked the same camera it would be a boring world. When I went to the RFF meet in Atlanta last April (I think it was) I got to fondle a few Leica's including an M9. Also a ZI. Weird as this may sound, when I compaired them to my Bessa R & especially looking through the VF I no longer want the Leica. If I had it to choose from I would take a Bessa R2 like Paul had at the meet. That was a nice camera. Enjoy the Sony. Maybe one day I'll get a digital, but not likely.

i think the x100 must suit my style. i am deliberate. snap-shooting is not my thing. and i am not a lens-changer. so the cam's features become strengths for me, where they are weaknesses for others.

I have not had mine long but so far I am enormously impressed. Its certainly not for everyone, but now I have it set up how I want it and know what to change to achieve a given end, its tremendous.

I use the optical finder all the time except for close ups and there is therefore no lag issue to contend with. Just frame a touch tight because more is captured than seen inside the lines.

Last night I shot some 3200 iso frames, wide open at 1/10 or so of a second. The results astonished me. Much easier to hand hold at slow speeds than my 5DII and the high ISO is right up there... The images looked very, very good. If they improve on the X100 and bring out a fully 'pro' aimed version with interchangeable lenses, Leica needs to be seriously worried. This little gem has not erased my hankering for a M9, but there is no doubt about it, for my purposes it is a better walk around camera by virtue of being 'good enough' and considerably lighter, smaller and more 'losable'. All I need now is a version that will has a 28, 50 and 75mm or similar lenses and with better manual focus

I'm about to sell mine (waiting for the royal mail website to be back online to do a listing on the you-know-what).

It's a great camera, but I just don't find myself using it. In all, I've probably only shot ~200 shots with it.

It is too similar size-wise to my M9 to create a niche of its own, and as nice as the X100 is, I infinitely prefer shooting with the Leica.

I will replace it with a Ricoh GRD-IV as my GRDs have been the only digital cameras I genuinely found a useful niche in my life.

Last week I almost traded the mine (which I only recently took in on trade). The camera has some flaws but so do I. My biggest hurdle is getting over the focal length. It really feels more like a crop of a 21mm lens than it does a 35mm lens. I suppose it is because that is exactly what it is (ok, 23mm but you get me). But in this last week I've been using it for journaling. I've come to appreciate how much resolution is there. The images have life and clarity. It's fantastic to see on a large monitor and I'll be ordering some prints shortly.
Like Paul, I prefer the fixed lens. It attracted me to this camera as I don't care to swap lenses often. I only wish it was a real 35mm f2

I had the cash sitting in my Paypal account, ready to buy one.

After reading about user's experience with manual focus, I ended up buying a C-Sonnar 50/1.5 instead. After reading about a high-failure (15% as per one forum) rate due to Sticky Aperture Blades with the X100, it seems that waiting a while to get one is a good idea. If another brand of camera, such as Nikon, Canon, or Leica, had this high of a failure rate, I suspect more would be made of it. When I worked in a camera shop, Olympus had failure rates in this range. I talked customers out of buying them because of it.
