PC for me, bought a Mac laptop years ago and it wouldn't go online. The techs couldn't even figure it out so I got my money back and purchased another Windows laptop and saved a bunch of money in the process.

Mac or PC - for what use?
I have both and use both.
Mac is offline for all the secure aspects of life, databases, and financial spreadsheets, and PC is online for RFF etc.

though am a Mac user, PC's are pretty capable tools as well. Member of POTN had reviewed new Lenovo laptop from photography perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOgl2jHdvCs

Long time Mac user; had been managing an ageing G5 since 2004. Use a PC notebook at work and have begun regular traveling again which highlighted the weigh of the damn thing and didn't agree with 3 bulging disks I need to nurse. So bought an 11" Macbook Air as my work travel machine and suddenly realised after seeing its performance that I didn't need a Mac Pro as a replacement to my G5.

As I already have a good NEC monitor I decided on a Mac Mini with a little pimping - SSD, i7, 8GB RAM (still watching the price falling on that OWC 16GB memory) and added a Matias TactilePro 3 keyboard - love those mechanical keys. Use a NAS for storage so the internal limitations are not a problem. Have been very impressed with it so far

Mac

I'm tired of using PC. They're overly complicated. Don't get me wrong, I'm very computer savvy and have used PCs my whole life, but a Mac just feels right.

About 2 years ago, I decided to buy a MBP to see what all the hype was about. I was instantly hooked. Macs have their limitations and I know that for work, I'll probably always use PC, but for my personal computer, I'm never going back.

Dell here, 1764 laptop with i5 2.27ghz, 8gig ram, wish it took more ram, but, does quite fine with 100mb files. Always had PC's since my first Tandy 1000.

Isn't Mac a PC? (Personal Computer).

Yes, but it's easier to type PC than Windows-based PC.

Also a long-time Mac user. My G5 is also 7 years old, and I'll probably get a new one fairly soon. I use a pc for work, but I hate it. I'm not a Mac apologist, and they have their issues, but they are miles above any pc - in MY personal OPINION.

I'm a network guy -- as in TCP/IP, RFCs, network traces (oooh, I get the shivers!), etc.

Mac
Specifically, I have a brand new 13" MacBook Air. My router is a previous generation AirPort Extreme with external 1TB drive for Time Machine and PC backups via Norton 360, and USB-connected laser printer. Four iPod Touch devices, my wife has 3 (I think iPod shuffles, a Kindle, and now an iPad2. We also have an Acer netbook and an Acer desktop with Windows 7 for PC work.

I've worked with DOS/Win PCs all my life. I find the current line-up of Macs and OS-X are simply elegant, and the hardware seems to be so solid. Perfect and bullet proof? No. But a better value for me.

PC Compaq laptop in the office for correspondence and billing.

For everything else, there's Macintosh. (Apologies to Master Card.)

My Compaq is a 1998 model, running Windows 98. A great little computer, really. Still runs! Around maybe 2002 or so I bought a Sony VAIO. It conked out just after the warranty ran out. Piece of crap.

21.5 inch iMac for surfing and photo processing. 13" Macbook for travel. I run Aperture on both. Also good to use in bed for surfing. My wife wants Santa to bring her a MacAir or iPad. She's leaning toward the MacAir.

iMac with 8GB of RAM, running OSX with Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 in Parallels VMs. Makes a lot of sense for my work, I have access to both file systems and I don't have to reboot.

I would like to see a poll that outlines the correlation between Mac users and Leica users. I would just about bet my kidneys that there is hardly an M9 owner out there that doesn't believe the Mac is the ultimate computer and wouldn't be seen dead using a PC!

Macbook Pro 15 Laptop, 4 + years old, and IMac 24, 2 + years old.

PC at work since that is what they provide, although I do use my personal mac laptop as well at work and from home. The IMac desktop is a joy to use, apple just works better for me, never a bug and is intuitive to use, so far anyway.

Competition is good for the buyer!

I think this poll is extremely predictable. In a forum about photography, there's bound to be a lot of creative types, people who appreciate aesthetics and usability and what not.
Then again, there are also quite a few seniors on here that are less inclined to switch to Macs because they like sticking to what they know.
I was expecting the poll to be about 70-30 in favour of Macs, let's see how it pans out over time.

As stated above, I love my Air, and my wife's new iPad has not left her lap since she got it last month. The virtual keyboard is fine for her, she uses it a lot for work email using OWA. If she's in bed, she uses her iPod Touch for reading email, as well as other apps.

my mac book pro is 5 years old still works. my sony lasted a year. my compact almost 2. dell less than a year. hp laptop a year fixed it then 6 months. wife's hp a couple years then with ubuto installed went another 6 months to a year before video card went out. a net laptop less than a year. I now also have a iPad and iMac. I personally like the mac os better than windows and in my experience the money spent on apple last longer than the other manufactures. I don't own a leica. want one though.

I prefer Mac. My schools use them, so I've grown accustomed to them. No hard feelings for the PC.
