Pretty crappy looking day out here today. Decided to play around w/ some quick and dirty photo merge using ps 5 and dp2m. The first shot is normal horizontal perspective, afl/ael lock, f5.6 using mid size raw. Focus and exposure was locked for all shots for the center of wall just above where the green foliage is located. Just a quick and dirty test...

It was created using 13 raw files - final tiff file is not compressed and is 2.98gb straight out of ps. My normal aperture enhance preset run thru as well. Flickr version of files don't do it justice.

This is one done vertical format shots w/ 8 raw file stitch and ps merged files ended up 1.65gb.

Just wondering what other photo merge sw others are using.

I've been thinking and reading about this, wondering if I would have to use a tripod, and then hassle with figuring out the nodal point, etc...?

These were all hand held.. I wanted to get a feel for it right now and to c what type of results. A friend of mine uses a tripod and a nodal setup with his canon mk2.. I think he said he was using a long lens. He showed me some stuff a while ago. But I but that dp3m thread on getdpi got me thinking about it again, so I thought I would at least do a quick and dirty to c all the things that need to be considered.

I like the vertical approach better.
