I didn't even know Sam's Club at Mexico still sold film! It's long been gone from CostCo and WalMart. I guess I should go check it out around here. Thanks!

This is exactly what happened Costco. Prices dropped to less than $1/roll, and then it was gone. I bought 100 or so rolls and sadly I'm almost out :/

My Sam's Club stopped selling film a few years ago. My local WalMart only sells Fuji Superia film. Not even a C-41 B&W. I have plenty of color film stocked up fortunately.

A bit off topic, but while we are talking about Mexico (City), does anyone know how to get Kodak Portra around here? I've tried a number of shops in Mexico City, everybody tells me it has been discontinued, I explain that no, it has not and give them the Kodak product number for the new Portras, yet, they still can't order it for me ...

Distribuidora Fotográfica Vyorsa (República de Brasil street, halfway to Plaza Santo Domingo) has Portra 160 NC and VC only in 120 format. I've talked to Kodak Mexico, they don't sell the 'new' Portra and they don't sell 35mm either

Oh, don't get me wrong, at Vyorsa the have plenty of other 135 format color and b&w film, just not 135 format Portra.
As to Kodak's distribution I see Tmax, ProImage, Ultra and Gold are easily available... but for some reason, Kodak won't distribute 135 Portra in Mexico.... now that I think of it I haven't seen Ektar around here either...

Yeah, I feared that would be the answer. I have seen the Fuji pro color films at a number of places, they seem to be easily availble in 135 and 120. Pro 400-H will have to do then, although I really much prefer portra.
Does anyone know of a decent place to get 6x6 negatives scanned for a reasonable price? I have offers for ~100 pesos (US$ 8) per negative for pretty mediocre flatbed scans. I'd be willing to pay that for drum scans ...
Thanks again, and nice to see there are some more people from Mexico on this forum. -N.

People still buy film somewhere other than Freestyle or occasionally B&H/Adorama? Wow, the things you learn...

The problem with ordering from Freestyle is that shipping to Mexico City is 50 bucks and then one still may have to deal with Mexican customs, which is, let's say, not very predictable.
Last time I ordered film I made the (grave) mistake to include one C-41 powder kit because I wanted to try to develop color negative film at home. I could not find the small kits for sale anywhere locally. Customs went nuts over the chemicals. Nobody at Customs knows what film chemicals are anymore, it seems. Took me weeks to get them to let the shipment through.
So I do order at freestyle, but I keep looking for local distributors.
Now that we've found a few more people in Mexico (City), we may try to organize group orders, which would bring the shipping costs down to reasonable levels.
